Black Myth: Wukong features an in-depth combat system that perfectly uses the Destined One’s Staff. However, the game doesn’t let you block or parry using the Staff. While this can be disappointing for parry enthusiasts, there actually is a way to effectively do it in Black Myth: Wukong.

To gain the ability to parry enemy attacks, you need to get your hands on the Rock Solid spell. This allows you to freeze yourself in place and make your body indestructible. If timed correctly, it can light-stun enemies who strike you when you’re in your rock form.

Here’s how you can get the Rock Solid spell and implement parry mechanics into your Black Myth: Wukong journey

Getting the Rock Solid spell requires you to take down a few tough bosses. It can only be acquired in Chapter 2, so you’ll have to make it through Chapter 1 without the ability to parry.

In Chapter 2, take down these three bosses before acquiring the Rock Solid spell:

  • Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
  • King of Flowing Sands and Second Rat Prince
  • Tiger Vanguard

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw

The first boss on the list is among the easier ones in Chapter 2. Lang-Li-Gahh-Baw can be found near Yellow Wind Ridge, close to where you first start Chapter 2. This boss can be extremely aggressive and constantly dishes out Lightning attacks.

While these attacks can be difficult to dodge, you can avoid many of them by jumping over. Other than that, the fight can be a breeze if you use the Immobilize Spell and other abilities to their proper extent. The boss takes a lot of damage, so it shouldn’t be long before you defeat it.

This dual boss fight with the King of Flowing Sands and the Second Rat Prince may seem daunting at first. However, the fight can be completed effortlessly if done the right way. While you fight both of them simultaneously, avoiding the King and focusing on the Second Rat Prince is quite easy.

If you defeat the King first, the Second Rat Prince gets enraged and implements a much more aggressive moveset. So, eliminate the Second Rat Prince first. This will lead to the King of Flowing Sands running away. You will find him again before you encounter the First Prince of Flowing Sands boss.

Tiger Vanguard

With that, you should be able to progress to the Crouching Tiger Temple. From the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine, make your way into the Temple to find the Tiger Vanguard in a pool of blood. This boss is one of the most challenging in Chapter 2, with heavy-hitting attacks that can also incorporate strikes using his blade.

To beat Tiger Vanguard, be quick on your feet and dodge the big hits he dishes out. Once you defeat him, you will be granted the Rock Solid spell by the headless NPC who accompanies you throughout Chapter 2.

Rock Solid is the only way for you to Parry in the game. While it isn’t a traditional parry, the spell works on a similar principle. Time the activation in accordance with the enemy’s attack.

If executed well, the enemy will hit you in your Rock Solid form. This will cause them to get lightly stunned, leaving a huge window for you to counterattack and dish out some damage. However, since Rock Solid is a spell, it is important to remember that it consumes Mana.

You can only use Rock Solid a limited number of times before you run out of Mana. Additionally, it’s classified as an Alteration Spell, so you’ll have to choose between Rock Solid and Cloud Step on your journey in Black Myth: Wukong.
