Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest entry in the long-running series. It has introduced many new mechanics that both old and new players will have fun discovering. You will encounter monster herds for the first time in MH Wilds. This mechanic binds the monsters collectively. The herds are mostly huge, but you can separate them. The game has two items that you can use for this purpose.

How To Separate Herds in Monster Hunter Wilds

Before initiating the survey for an Alpha Monster, keep in mind that they’re usually leading a herd. In the prologue, you must hunt an Alpha Doshaguma who leads the monsters of his kin.

While Alpha Doshaguma isn’t a strong monster, the herd can make your hunt difficult. To separate the herd, you can use a Large Dung Pod or a Luring Pod. Here is how you can use the items easily and effectively:

Large Dung Pod

Using a Large Dung Pod is the most effective way to have an alpha monster stray from its pack. To do so, equip the item from the item selection; do remember to unequip your weapon first.

Aim down your sling and shoot the pod at the targeted monster’s face. This causes chaos in the herd. The other monsters will run away, making it easier for you to hunt the desired monster.

Luring Pod

Luring Pod is a useful item that you can use to lead the alpha monster away from its herd. Aim at the monster you’re hunting and try to catch its attention. After the monster is lured away, you can go about your hunt.
