How To Find the Kiwi
You can only find the Kiwi bird after upgrading your campfire to level 6, as they only spawn right at the edge of the map. Once you reach that stage, you may notice tree trunks with holes in them. These are the spawn points for the animal. As of the current patch, you can only find them near their spawn points, making them a late-game animal. They are completely passive, like Bunnies.
How To Tame a Kiwi
To tame a Kiwi, you first have to acquire one of the new Taming Flutes in the 99 Nights in the Forest. This is the latest gear in the game that allows you to turn wild animals around the map into pets. You can find them through the following methods:
- Abandoned Animal Shelter: These are large cage-like structures that will have several taming flutes at one location.
- Pelt Trader: There is a chance you can trade for one at the pelt trader. But this method is not guaranteed.
- Players who start as the Beastmaster or the Zookeeper class get a flute as a starting item.
Once you have a taming flute, you should stock up on at least one Berry in your pouch. Follow these steps:
- Locate a Kiwi at the edge of the map. They only appear after you max out the campfire.
- Use your Taming Flute on it. The mini-game should be quite easy.
- Once done, offer it a Berry to turn the animal into your pet. It only has one mood level, making the taming process fairly easy.
If you find yourself at the edge of the map without berries, you can put the Kiwi in your pouch and carry it back to your camp to make things easier.
