Learn how to unlock the warfarer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and how to acquire a powerful rearmament skill from the Grandmaster Path scroll.
The Warfarer is a hybrid vocation that offers a wide range of weapon types and combinations. As a result, players can choose a particular loadout that aligns with their unique playstyle. It can use any weapon combination, skill, and core skill available depending upon which weapon is equipped at the time. You can even run multiple weapons to allow for diverse gameplay and build crafting. It is one of six vocations you must unlock before playing it. However, this vocation is the best if you want freedom in all combat aspects, including melee, ranged, survivability, and crown control. Your pawns cannot use this vocation, so it’s only available for Arisen
How to Unlock Warfarer Vocation
To unlock the Warfarer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must obtain three bottles of Newt Liqueurs and gift them to Lamond in Hot Springs on Agamen Volcanic Island. It’s the Sotted Sage quest, and its competition will not only reward you with Warfarer Vocation but also rearmament skill from the Grandmaster Path scroll.
You’ll eventually get there by following the map quest storyline, but if you have patience and are willing to try your chances against much stronger bosses, you can head there early in the game. But be aware that enemies become much harder to defeat on low levels, making the trip challenging.
Travel to Bakbattahl
You start your quest to unlock the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 from Bakbattahl. Again, you can follow the story and receive a permit from Capitan Brant or try to sneak past the gate in Checkpoint Rest Town. Travel to Rest Town by Ox card or by foot. Then buy Beastren Mask for 8,700 gold from Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop. Equip the mask, and the guars should allow you to enter the new desert area. Mask will be crucial later, so keep it in your inventory.
Alternatively, if you arrive at the gate when the ox cart passes, you may attempt to sneak inside it and not move when they open the gate for the carriage. Leave the carriage when you are safely a few meters behind the gate. However, this requires you to be there at the exact time in the morning, and all guards may attack you if they notice you or you move your character inside the carriage, which carries the consequences.
You can also take the path leading to the west side of the map and around the main gate. Follow the river west into a mountain pass.
Follow the main road south and to the east to find Bakbattahl city.
Acquire 3 bottles of Newt Liqueurs
Turn left once you arrive at Bakbattahl and pass the main city gate. In the north, you will find the Higg’s Tavern. Check the image for reference. Before you step inside, there are two essential things to do. Ensure you have the beastren mask equipped. Just outside the tavern, you should spot two bags. Pick them up and throw them inside the small pen next to them.
Now go inside and speak with the owner. He offers a unique Newt Liqueur for 5,000 gold each. You will need three to unlock Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Head to Volcanic Island Camp
Lastly, you must head to Volcanic Island Camp, a small settlement southeast of Bakbattahl. The north path is only open if you have already reached a specific point in the story. The south path through the cave system in the north is longer. However, you can find some fantastic gear items on the way, and it’s open and accessible regardless of your level or main story progression.
Gift Lamond the Newt Liqueur to unlock Warfarer Vocation
In Volcanic Island Camp, look for the path leading up the hill and take the ladder on wooden scaffolding leading to the hot springs. You’ll easily spot Lamond sitting next to the tent. Speak with him and offer him Newt Liqueur. If you gift Lamond all 3 bottles of Newt Liqueur, he will reward you with the Warfarer Vocation in gratitude.
You may need to interact with him a few times. After you unlock the warfare vocation, remember to speak with him one last time. He will reward you with the Grandmaster Path scroll, a powerful Rearmament skill you can learn.
