EA Sports has made College Football 25 available only on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S, which means you cannot play the game on PC.
On July 19, 2024, EA Sports released EA Sports College Football 25, which is based on American League Football or NFL. This game, unlike other NFL-related games such as Madden NFL, which has a more arcade-like gaming experience, College Football 25 presents more of a realistic football game simulation. Not to say that it isn’t like Madden NFL, but EA Sports has definitely put a lot of effort into this game considering that College Football 25 is the first college football game to come out in ten years since NCAA 14.
College Football 25 sold over 2.2 million copies and brought in over $200 million in sales and revenue even before the game was released. All thanks to an early access program for gamers who bought the $99.99 deluxe edition of College Football 25.
Has EA Sports Made College Football 25 Available on PC?
EA Sports has made College Football 25 available only on the newer generation of consoles, namely the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S. It is also not available on older generation consoles like the PS4 or the Xbox One. Then the question remains: why? After all, the PC gaming community is an even bigger market as compared to console gamers, and when you consider that the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S are the new generation of consoles, the console player market for this game basically gets halved.
Well, there seems to be a very good reason for that. When it comes to National League Football or NFL in America, character as well as image infringement, even when it is virtual in nature, could lead to a potentially damaging lawsuit. EA Sports allegedly had to get permission from almost every player, manager, coach, and team owner to use their IP (intellectual property) in the game. As PC gamers, we all love modding, don’t we? But this may be exactly what EA Sports is trying to avoid since using mods means altering features (be it teams or players), mostly without their consent, or they may bring in players or teams or coaches or faces in general with whom EA Sports never had an official agreement with.
So when we look at facts like this, it is much easier to understand why EA Sports haven’t made College Football 25 available on PC. However, gamers of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S now have an amazing college-level football game that they can spend a lot of hours on.
