Although FromSoftware’s upcoming co-op title, Elden Ring Nightreign, does support cross-gen, it will not support cross-platform.
FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Nightreign was one of the biggest announcements at The Game Awards 2024. It is a standalone co-op multiplayer game set in the Elden Ring universe. Since its reveal at TGA, souls-like fans have been eagerly anticipating this new spin-off of the 2022 hit title. Meanwhile, the Elden Ring Nightreign network test builds the hype and raises an important question: does Elden Ring Nightreign support cross play?
Unfortunately, no. Elden Ring Nightreign will not support cross-platform play.

Does Elden Ring Nightreign Support Crossplay?
Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on May 30, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. It has been officially confirmed that the game doesn’t support cross-platform play, much like the original Elden Ring.
In an IGN Interview, Junya Ishizaki, the game director of Elden Ring Nightreign, responded with the following when asked about cross platform:
“Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play. So PS4 players can play with PS5 players, and Xbox One players can play with Xbox Series S and X players, but not between platforms.” – Junya Ishizaki (Elden Ring Nightreign Game Director)
This means that players are restricted to teaming up within their own platforms. However, the game has cross-generation support, allowing players from the same ecosystem to play together. PS5 and PS4 players can play together and the same goes for players of Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Can you Play Elden Ring Nightreign Solo?
FromSoftware fans are eager to see how Elden Ring Nightreign adapts to the souls-like roguelike formula to co-op play. The multiplayer title features a three-player co-op, with the environment and gameplay mechanics specially designed for a three-player team. However, if you prefer playing alone, you can play Elden Ring Nightreign solo. The game allows either solo play or three-player co-op, but it does not support duos.
