Cryptocurrency blockchain platform Solana followed YouTuber James “MrBeast” Donaldson on February 9, 2025, which unfolded the speculation regarding MrBeast’s partnership with Solana to launch a crypto meme coin soon. However, the YouTuber shut down all speculations and said that he was not planning to launch a meme coin.

Crypto meme coins are cryptocurrencies that are influenced by pop culture or internet memes. They are highly volatile and are considered unsafe for investment. They are also often used for “rug pulls” and financial scams.

MrBeast has been at the center of multiple fake scams. The YouTuber has admittedly invested in cryptocurrency, but he has never promoted any coins to his audience. However, many internet scammers falsely used his name to sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies.

MrBeast Urges Users To Stop Lying About Alleged Crypto Meme Coin Launches

An X account that goes by the name Ace tweeted that MrBeast will officially be launching a coin. The user who has over 110,000 followers, further stated the viewers to follow the account to stay updated on when the alleged coin would go live.

The tweet went viral with over 780,000 impressions and it caught MrBeast’s attention. The YouTuber shut down all speculations surrounding a potential crypto meme coin saying:

“I feel like you guys are just trolling at this point, so this is the last time I’m gonna say this. I AM NOT LAUNCHING A MEME COIN PLEASE STOP LYING.”

Scammers frequently use the YouTuber’s name and photos for cryptocurrency scams online. In 2024, multiple scams on TikTok claimed to be giveaways from the YouTuber. Someone also launched ‘Beast Cards’, a tradeable NFT project that sold MrBeast-themed digital items for the sole purpose of scamming his audience.

Cryptocurrency Scammers Are Targeting Content Creators

Crypto scammers target more than just MrBeast. On January 27, 2025, hackers took over Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt’s X account. The person who took over the streamer’s account promoted a meme coin called “$AMONGOLD” and used imagery that made the post look official.

Asmongold quickly took down the post and told his fans about the issue. The Solana platform hosts coins named Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, which are not associated with the content creators. Political commentator Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker commented on the state of influencer crypto scams on stream, saying:

“This is what the American economy looks like right now. China’s over here po*ping on us. China’s over here fa*ting on us making products at a fraction of the price…that is infinitely more efficient. It disrupts the American market. And in the United States of America, our most brilliant innovators are busy hacking Twitter accounts and YouTube pages to market sh*tty crypto coins. Great stuff overall. We are so cooked folks.”

With scams becoming commonplace, many content creators urge their audiences to exercise caution. FaZe Clan CEO Richard “Banks” Bengston recently promoted $MLG and told internet users should consider every single dollar they invest into crypto as “zero”.
