The critically acclaimed Stalker series makes a return in November 2024. Find out whether Stalker 2 will be available to experience on PS5.
Stalker 2 has got fans wondering whether it will be on PS5. After waiting for a sequel to the original trilogy for more than a decade, the fans of the series are finally getting what they wanted.
GSC Game World has decided to release Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl on November 20, 2024. This release date has come after a few former delays from the publisher who wanted to fix some ‘unexpected anomalies’ before letting the fans experience the finished product.
Unfortunately, not every fan will be able to play it right away because the game will not be on PS5. That’s right. The game is not scheduled to come out on Sony’s console because of its exclusive console rights signed with Microsoft.
GSC Game World is releasing its long-awaited sequel on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Game Pass. PS5 fans will be missing out on the game. But is there any hope?
Will Stalker 2 Ever Be on PS5?
As of now, the game is only coming to the Xbox Series and Microsoft Windows. However, the exclusivity deal may not be all that ‘exclusive’ because of a recent trend that Microsoft has been following. They wish to end console exclusivity and want all games to be available to all players.
So, in this sense, the exclusives on Xbox are only timely exclusives. This isn’t the case for every game that comes out on Xbox, though. Some titles might restrict themselves to just the Microsoft fanbase. However, GSC Game World knows the love that PlayStation players can give to their latest game and may be planning to eventually release it on PS5 as well.
Even big titles like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will eventually be released on Sony’s console. The release is planned for Spring 2025, meaning we can see it on PS5 somewhere between March and June. This will be 3 to 6 months after its exclusive Xbox release.
So, if Stalker 2 follows the same pattern, we may see a PlayStation spring release announcement or the developers may delay it further. We are hopeful for it because Call of Pripyat, the last entry in the series, was released on PS4 back in the day.
