Black Myth: Wukong has a NG+ mode or a New Game plus mode that will surely delight those who enjoy a title with high replayability. You’ll be able to dive back into the story with newly unlocked weapons and abilities that will help you navigate the increased difficulty. The mode has become an expected feature in modern-day gaming, especially in the case of RPGs and souls-like titles. It’s great to see GameScience choosing to have the feature at launch instead of adding it later on with a patch.

The New Game plus mode will also let you have an easier time completing Black Myth: Wukong achievements that you might have missed in your first playthrough. Given that there are 81 of them in total, it will take you some time to unlock them all.

How to start NG+ mode

The NG+ mode unlocks once you defeat the Spirit of the Great Sage boss and complete the main mission. The game will immediately offer you the option to “Enter a New Cycle” and kickstart the New Game plus mode with your unlocked weapons and abilities. You can choose to embark on the NG+ journey or continue your playthrough to complete side missions and explore parts that you had missed out on.

You will notice the difficulty going up significantly in the NG+ mode. This is expected since you are starting the playthrough fully kitted with a late-game build. The devs have also increased the Will’s payout and the XP required to get Sparks to balance out your unlocked stuffs.

Mission-related items and Keeper’s Shrine points (used for fast traveling in Black Myth: Wukong) will be reset when you start the NG+ mode. You can expect to carry over the following unlocked things from your initial save:

In a New Game Plus playthrough, you will have the Upgrade Armor option at a Shrine under the Craft Armor option. Freed Mind Relic is also available with NG+ along with new craftable weapons. The latter can be found at the end of weapon trees, provided you have unlocked the weapon in the prior save.
