Is Roblox dating a good idea? Find out why KreekCraft disagrees with the CEO’s suggestion to introduce dating features.
Popular Roblox YouTuber Forrest Waldron, aka KreekCraft, has called out the gaming company after the CEO suggested adding a dating feature in the future. The existence of unofficial dating games on the platform is a point of contention for many in the community. Recently, the game developer TheOfficialTeddy was banned after much controversy surrounding their condo games. Many accused Teddy’s games of allowing players to go on virtual dates.
Days after the backlash, Roblox CEO David Baszucki revealed plans to add a virtual dating feature in the future. In a July 9 interview on the Tech Stuff podcast, Baszucki said:
“I think a lot of people who are too afraid to go on a real-life date might find it easier to have a virtual date to start. And then if they connect, move to the physical world.”
The interview has gone viral in the Roblox community, with many expressing their disapproval. Before making a video criticizing the direction Roblox is taking, KreekCraft sarcastically called out David Baszucki. Proclaiming that Roblox should not have a dating feature, the YouTuber wrote:

“You Are a Gaming Website.” – KreekCraft Says Roblox Should Not Be Actively Pushing for a Dating Feature
KreekCraft did not stop at one post on X. He also made a video criticizing the CEO’s decision. The YouTuber claimed that the platform is associated with gaming for children and that this push for a dating feature is akin to the company “shooting themselves in the foot”:
“Roblox loves shooting themselves in the foot. I don’t think they realize the damage this is doing to Roblox. You know how many know Roblox as this kid’s game, as this child’s game, right? They see games like Grow a Garden, Steal a Brainrot, or whatever this is. Maybe their nephew plays it or whatever. And the only other thing they hear is that the CEO wants it to be a dating website.”
The content creator claimed that the increasing talk of officially adding a virtual dating feature will turn off potential game devs:
“Do you know how many YouTubers and content creators, and other potential game developers you are turning off of Roblox? Because they see this and they are like, ‘Wait a second, Roblox is a children’s game. Why does it want to be a dating website? I ain’t going on that space, I don’t want to touch that.’ This is not helping, Roblox. This is not helping!”

KreekCraft acknowledged that video games do facilitate dating, and adult gamers have found meaningful relationships while playing games. However, the YouTuber maintained that games should be about games and not actively push to create dating spaces:
“I get it. When there are adults in an online space or an IRL space, there are going to be relationships, and there is going to be dating. I have friends who met their wives in a Call of Duty lobby. Yes, these things happen, people get into relationships from gaming and online spaces, right? But Call of Duty is not a dating game, WoW is not a dating game. Yes, these things can happen, and they will happen. But it’s not like the developers are going and saying, ‘This is a dating update of Call of Duty.’”
KreekCraft went as far as saying Roblox does not know what it wants. The YouTuber also insinuated that the company seems to be ashamed of being a gaming platform and further critiqued the potential dating feature:
“Why do we have to push this and make it a thing? We can recognize that this a thing that happens and that it will happen. But it’s not a dating website, it should not be actively encouraged. We should not be rolling out features that help it happen. This is a gaming website; this is a gaming platform. Lately, I feel like Roblox is so ashamed of that. I don’t even know if Roblox knows what they want to be. You are a gaming website. They don’t even use the word games, ‘They are experiences!’”
