How To Start the Magic of Food
This substory is unlocked in Chapter 2 of the main story. After you complete the Symbol of the City, the Street Surfer, this substory will become available. To start this mission, head to the Soleil restaurant and order any meal.
You can order some drinks if you have full health. After you do so, a cutscene will start where a friendly staff member named Hauser will introduce himself. This will start the substory.
How To Complete the Magic of Food?
To complete this mission, you will have to leave and come back to Soleil a few times. Firstly, after the substory begins, order another dish and Hauser will thank you for returning. After this, leave the restaurant and spend some time. You can do this by getting into a fight or doing a substory.
When you return, Hauser will tell you about his diligent efforts to become an official chef at Soleil. However, he has yet to earn the acknowledgment of his superiors. Majima finds it suspicious how someone who works as hard as Hauser has not been made a chef yet. After this, order another dish at the restaurant for more dialogue from Hauser. You will then have to leave again to pass some time.
The next time you return will be the last one. Hauser will be called away by the head chef and scolded for not completing his duties. Afterward, you will eavesdrop on him and his friend to see what they think. The head chef will reveal that Hauser is too talented to be made a chef and that he fears losing his job to Hauser. Majima will get angry on Hauser’s behalf and get into an argument with the two men. This will lead to a fight as they try to silence you.
After you are finished with the men, another cutscene will start. The boss of Soleil will appear and ask you what happened here. You and the two chefs give him a conflicting description of Hauser. The boss will be unsure what to think and wish for a solution. Hauser will show up at just the right time and, after a slip and fall, his sandwiches will end up in the boss’s mouth.
What Is Your Reward for This Substory?
The boss, recognizing his talent, will make Hauser a chef and demote the two who were keeping him down. Hauser, for his part, bears no ill will towards the two and will thank them for their guidance. The boss will give you a Hawaiian Gold Ring by way of apology. In addition, Hauser will join your crew as a member. And thus, the substory will be complete.
