How To Predict Coverages in Madden NFL 26

The following are some of the positions and what they might reveal to you before the break. Being able to consistently tell what your opponent is planning will give you an edge.
Cover 2 Man
In this case, the following is true:
- Cornerbacks: The CBs will play tight press directly on the WRs.
- Safeties: Two safeties will take up position evenly across the field, almost 15 yards from the line of scrimmage.
- Linebackers: They will be spaced out and sit in the middle zones.
Cover 3
You can identify this scheme by the following tells:
- Cornerbacks: They will be wider to safeguard the outside thirds and off coverage around 8 yards.
- Safeties: One safety will be closer to the line of scrimmage, leaving the other to be deep in the middle.
- Linebackers: They will take up the flat/curl zones that are not always lined perfectly with WRs but shaded inside.
Cover 4
Here are some tells for this particular defensive scheme:
- Cornerbacks: They’ll guard the deep zones and play off by around 8-10 yards.
- Safeties: Both will be deep. However, don’t confuse this positioning with Cover 2. In this one, the Safeties are wider, and they guard a quarter each.
Cover 6
- Cornerbacks: One CB will be close to the line of scrimmage and will shade the flat zone side. The other is off and on the quarter side.
- Safeties: Both safeties are in deep, but one is in the quarter zone, while the other is in the half zone. The biggest clue of Cover 6 play is the uneven deep positioning of the Safeties.
Cover 9
- Cornerbacks: On one side the CB cloud flats, pressing up and dropping. On the other side, the CB plays the quarter.
- Safeties: Safeties are uneven, with one playing deep half, while the quarter zone Safety is more towards the middle.
Keep in mind that even after being able to spot coverages in Madden NFL 26 before the break, there’s always a chance of the opponent fooling you with a coverage disguise. However, for the most part, these tactics should help you identify defensive schemes beforehand and take appropriate steps.
