1. Doom: The Dark Ages Details and Release Date Revealed

During the Developer Direct event, id Software, the developers of Doom: The Dark Ages, revealed a new gameplay trailer and announced that the title would launch May 15, 2025. The upcoming title is a prequel set in medieval times within the highly popular Doom franchise. If the reveal trailer is any indication, Doom: The Dark Ages will retain the fast-paced combat while also adding new features and ways to dispense of hordes of enemies.
2. Ninja Gaiden 4 Officially Announced
The biggest surprise reveal from Xbox Developer Direct 2025 has to be the announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4. The long-awaited sequel to the fan-favorite series received an almost three-minute-long trailer, showcasing extensive gameplay. This time around, the protagonist is named Yakumo, and he must face off against an army of demons and fiends. Eventually, he will come face to face with Ryu Hayabusa, the legendary ninja and protagonist of all previous games in the series.
Team Ninja, the developers behind the game, did not reveal an exact release date. However, it is currently set to release sometime during Fall 2025. You can expect to get more updates regarding the title in the coming months.
3. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Is Available Now
Fans have one more reason to rejoice Ninja Gaiden. During the Xbox Developer Direct 2025, Koei Tecmo revealed a remake of Ninja Gaiden 2, called Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. And, the game is available right now for you to play. The remake has launched for PS5, Xbox, and PC. The developers have recreated the entire game using Unreal Engine 5, which will ensure that both old and new players can enjoy the game’s story without having to compromise on its graphical fidelity.
4. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Trailer and Release Date Revealed
This one finally received a release date during the event. The highly anticipated game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be released on April 24, 2025. It will be available on the Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC. Also, the game will be a day-one launch on the Xbox Game Pass. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 clearly takes inspiration from classic turn-based JRPGs. However, it has also made some additions, such as parrying and dodging, which aren’t mainstays for games with turn-based combat. Also, the game’s unique art style and fantasy world have created a stir amongst fans.

Compulsion Games will launch South of Midnight on April 8, 2025. The action-adventure game uses a stop-motion visual, which gives its art style a unique touch. The story trailer revealed at the event shows Hazel, the protagonist, traveling throughout a hurricane-ravaged world in search of her mother. Along the way, she will come across magical beasts and learn that she is a ‘Weaver.’
