While waiting for the upcoming season, let’s explore the Fantastic Four and Dracula, who were revealed in the Marvel Rivals Season 1 trailer.
The Marvel Rivals Season 1 trailer has dropped and revealed a lot of information for the fans, featuring the Fantastic Four going against Doctor Doom and Dracula. The trailer did not reveal much of what’s to come for the game. However, the official announcement reveals new game modes and maps along with the new playable heroes. This update will also add the first season of the Marvel Rivals Battle Pass featuring 10 skins.
While waiting for the release of the upcoming season, let’s explore the Fantastic Four and Dracula in Marvel Rivals.
Who Are the Fantastic Four?
Marvel Rivals Season 1 officially introduces Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing to its roster of playable heroes and villains. After an exposure to cosmic rays during an experimental space flight, their bodies mutated, giving them superpowers.
Here is a quick introduction on who are the members of the Fantastic Four:
1. Mr. Fantastic (Duelist)
Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is one of the most brilliant minds in the Marvel universe. Due to exposure to cosmic rays, he gains the ability to stretch his body beyond physical limits. Despite being widely known as the group’s master strategist, he will be a playable Duelist hero in Marvel Rivals.
2. Invisible Woman (Strategist)
Susan Richards gained the ability to generate force fields and turn herself invisible, thus earning her the title of Invisible Woman. She is known for being calm even when under pressure but fiercely protective of those important to her. She will be playable as a Strategist hero in Marvel Rivals.
3. Human Torch (Duelist)
Johnny Storm is Susan’s brother who joined the crew in space. The cosmic rays made him a burning star, capable of setting himself ablaze and generating streams of flames from his body. Known for his adventurous spirit and fiery personality, he adopted the name Human Torch. He will be added to the roster as a Duelist hero in Marvel Rivals.
4. The Thing (Vanguard)
Ben Grimm is the loyal and tough-as-nails best friend of Reed Richards. He is the pilot of the space crusade when they were transformed by the cosmic rays. His mutation transformed him into a rocky, super-strong powerhouse with near-invulnerability. Despite this, he is well known for having a soft heart for his friends and family. The Thing will be playable as a Vanguard hero in Marvel Rivals.
Who Is Dracula in the Marvel Universe?
The Marvel Rivals Season 1 trailer titled “Eternal Night Fall” featured Dracula as one of the main villains of the storyline going against the Fantastic Four. In the Marvel universe, Dracula is not just a mythic vampire but the undisputed Lord of Vampires, originating from Bram Stoker’s classic lore but adapted into Marvel’s supernatural world.
He first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #1 in 1972 and has since become a recurring antagonist for heroes like Blade, Doctor Strange, and the X-Men. With powers including superhuman strength, immortality, hypnosis, and the ability to control creatures of the night, Dracula is a complex villain driven by his insatiable hunger for power and blood.
In Marvel Rivals, Dracula teams up with Doctor Doom to exploit the chaos caused by the Timestream Entanglement. With Doctor Strange trapped in the Astral Plane and the Darkhold’s pages scattered, Dracula harnesses the dark energy of Chronovium to plunge New York City into eternal night by halting the moon’s orbit. Now free from the sun’s constraints, Dracula commands his vampiric legions to overrun the city, leaving heroes scrambling to find a solution before the world succumbs to his reign of darkness.
A fun fact for the fans: this is not the first time Marvel Rivals mentions Dracula. In Moon Knight’s hero story in the game, Khonshu asks what he knows about vampires. Moon Knight jokingly replies, “That they suck. And that Dracula owes me money.” This humorous line references a popular meme born from a fan-edit comic panel where Moon Knight is hunting down Dracula for an unpaid debt. Though the panel isn’t official Marvel content, it has become a beloved inside joke among fans, cementing itself as part of the character’s meme-worthy reputation.
