There are currently five Mantles in Monster Hunter Wilds. Each has its own unique ability, and some are easier to obtain than others. Let’s go through them one by one.

1. Ghillie Mantle

  • Effect: Makes you invisible to monsters, allowing you to sneak up for surprise attacks.
  • How to get it: This one is available from the start, so no extra work is needed!

2. Rocksteady Mantle

  • Effect: Blocks knockbacks, reduces damage, negates wind effects, and prevents being stunned by roars.
  • How to get it: Complete the Black Flame Low Rank story quest. Then, visit the Windward Plains base camp and talk to Gemma. She’ll hand over the Rocksteady Mantle, along with a Shockproof Jewel.

3. Mending Mantle

  • Effect: Heals you back to full health after a short delay.
  • How to get it: Defeat Xu Wu in the Ruins of Wyveria. Then, return to base camp and speak with Gemma.

4. Evasion Mantle

  • Effect: Extends the invincibility window when dodging and boosts attack power if you dodge an attack at the last second.
  • How to get it: First, finish the Low Rank campaign. Then, take down the Frenzied Nerscylla in the Wounded Hollow.

5. Corrupted Mantle

  • Effect: It lowers health but increases affinity and weapon performance. The more attacks you land, the stronger your damage and affinity become.
  • How to get it: Defeat High Rank Gore Magala and talk to Gemma.

Which Mantles Are the Best To Use?

Not all Mantles are created equal. If you want to maximize your effectiveness, focus on these two:

  • Evasion Mantle: Great for dodging and dishing out extra damage. If you time your evasions perfectly, your attack power increases. Perfect for both melee and ranged fighters.
  • Corrupted Mantle: The go-to for pure damage. It works wonders for weapons that rely on critical hits, like the Long Sword and Bow. Just be mindful of the health drop.
