Hunting monsters in this game can sometimes require lots of supplies. However, you can obtain many useful items through the various methods available to you. Support Ship is one of these very useful methods by which you can trade in research points for various types of items in Monster Hunter Wilds. Moreover, the Support Ship functions the same as the Argosy in Monster Hunter: World.

You can find the Support Ship docked in the Windward Plains base camp. The owner of the ship will be sitting opposite your camp whenever the ship is docked. You need to talk to Santiago, a guy with a blonde ponytail and a red jacket, to access the Support Ship stock.

This guide has further explained how the Support Ship works and what items you can purchase from it in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The Support Ship has two states it can be in when you return from a hunt. One is the undocked state, where it leaves the camp, and you cannot interact with it in any way other than waiting for the ship to return. Leave for a few hunts, and a notification pops up on the screen once you come back to the camp. This informs you about the return of the ship. In this state, you can interact with Santiago and access his inventory.

You can buy consumables, monster parts, trade-in items, and weapons from the Support Ship. However, you need to use research points instead of Zenny to purchase items from here. In the shop, you can see the amount of research points the item is being sold for and the number of said items left in stock. Once you have bought everything from the shop, you need to wait for the ship to leave and return with more items.

Customizing the Support Ship Inventory

One thing you can notice is that the items sold are always randomised. This is because you can customize the type of items Santiago has to offer every time he visits. Head to the Request Goods section, where you are given these choices:

CategoriesDescription
AnyA balanced set of items.
Medicinal ItemsMostly comprised of highly effective medicinal items.
Equipment MaterialsMostly comprised of materials for forging weapons and armor.
Misc. ItemsMostly comprised of special items, such as equipment, hunting items, and trade-in items.

A Better Explanation

These were in-game descriptions provided to the Hunter. At first glance, they might seem vague to a beginner player. Here’s a more informative description for each category:

  • Any: This contains a balanced combination of every other category on the categories list. If you cannot choose a certain type of item you want, why not get a little bit of everything? This is also the default setting you start with.

  • Medicinal Items: This batch of items is entirely comprised of health potions, antidotes, and everything related to removing status ailments. You may find yourself unable to gather items during hunts or simply forget to stock up on consumables. This is a great category to set so that you can occasionally stock up on important medicinal items whenever the Support Ship is docked.

  • Equipment Materials: Monsters tend not to drop the materials you need to craft something. Placing an order in this category allows you to test your luck by seeing if you can get the material you need to craft your desired weapon and armor. Additionally, you can even find rare materials in the shop, such as Gems, which are hard to obtain from hunts.

  • Misc. Items: This is the costliest category, as it can bring in various weapons, traps, and trade-in items. This is a great way to buy new weapons to try out all the weapons the game offers. You can buy trade-in items to convert your research points into Zenny, which you can spend at other vendors.
