Find out how you can unlock the Mizutsune quest in Monster Hunter Wilds. It was introduced with the game Title Update 1.

The Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Wilds is now live, bringing with it a range of changes and introductions. One of the major things the update adds is new monsters—or should we say, old monsters that are making a comeback in the Monster Hunter series. For instance, players will now be able to actively pursue and hunt Mizutsune in the game.
However, like all major hunts, you’ll first have to meet a few requirements to unlock the monster’s quest line. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can unlock the Mizutsune quest in Monster Hunter Wilds. We’ll also take a brief look at this monster’s abilities and weaknesses, which might not be apparent to newer players in the Monster Hunter series.
How To Unlock the Mizutsune Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

The following are some of the steps to follow if you want to unlock the Mizutsune quest immediately.
- Step 1: Make sure you have installed the Title Update 1 for MH Wilds. It is now live for all platforms. Mizutsune has been added through this update, so without it, you won’t be able to attempt this mission.
- Step 2: Make sure your Hunter is at HR 21 or above. If not, just continue to level up until you hit the specified rank.
- Step 3: Once you’re at HR 21 or above, head to the Scarlet Forest and talk to Kanya. She’ll give you the quest to hunt down Mizutsune.
Also, you will unlock a further quest when you reach HR 41 or above, which will allow you to hunt a Tempered Mizutsune. To do that, you’ll need to talk to Alma and accept the related quest from her.
However, keep in mind that tempered variants of any monster provide a much more challenging fight than their standard variants. So, make sure you’re ready to take on the more powerful leviathan-class monster before pursuing this high-level quest.

What You Should Know About Mizutsune?

Mizutsune was one of the flagship monsters in Monster Hunter Generations. So, veterans of the series might already know what to expect from their encounter with the leviathan in the latest game. The beast isn’t particularly aggressive but is highly territorial.
So, if you approach too close to where it lives, prepare for a tough battle. The creature inhabits wet and swampy areas, so expect to find it in these portions of MH Wilds as well. It can rain down its bubble attacks.
Also, be wary of the Bubbleblight status infliction while fighting Mizutsune. With this infliction, your Hunter will have a much tougher time controlling their movements without slipping and tumbling down.
