The Tongue-Tied Event quest is now live in Monster Hunter Wilds, offering incredibly useful rewards that you won’t want to miss out on. Replacing the Stalking Supper, the Tongue-Tied Event quest pits you against a Chatacabra. However, unlike the past two Event quests, this time around, you’re faced with not a regular monster but a Tempered one.

As such, the quest comes with significantly higher difficulty. However, if you’re able to take down the Tempered Chatacabra, you will be rewarded with what is easily the best resource for the endgame of Monster Hunter Wilds — Armor Spheres. Furthermore, much like any other Event quest, Tongue-Tied is a great way to boost your Zenny count and Hunter Rank.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Tongue-Tied Event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, its requirements, rewards, and more.

Requirements for the Tongue-Tied Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

To start the Tongue-Tied Event quest, you must first complete the entirety of Low Rank and reach Hunter Rank 21. The Low Rank concludes after the main story quest, Monster Hunter. After that, the game switches to High Rank. In High Rank, you need to progress till you reach and complete the quest Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns. Once this quest is complete, you will get access to the Tempered Monster Investigations. This is when you hit the Hunter Rank 21 threshold. Once you reach Hunter Rank 21 and above, you can start the Tongue-Tied quest. To begin the quest, simply talk to Alma (the Handler) at a Base Camp or while outside of a quest.

Upon talking to Alma, select the Even Quests tab, and under that, you will find the Tongue-Tied quest. To summarize, here are the primary requirements for the Tongue-Tied quest:

  • Complete Low Rank.
  • Complete the Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns main story quest.
  • Reach Hunter Rank (HR) 21.

It should be noted that, similarly to the previous Event quests, Tongue-Tied is available for a limited time. The Event quest will be live in-game until March 18, 2025. Make sure to complete the quest and reap the rewards before that.

Tips To Easily Complete the Tongue-Tied Event Quest

Tempered Chatacabra

The Tongue-Tied Event quest sees you fight the Tempered Chatacabra, which is significantly tougher than the regular Chatacabra. Since it’s a Tempered monster, you won’t be able to capitalize on the wounds until you manually create them close to the Tempered Scar. We recommend using an endgame-ready build for this Event. However, if you’re not close to finishing High Rank’s main story, it’s best to focus on elemental damage using the Artian Weapons.

Chatacabra is incredibly weak to Iceblight, Thunderblight, and Paralysis. This holds true even for the Tempered variant. We recommend creating a Paralysis build, which works really well against Tempered monsters.

In addition to that, you would want to use at least a Rarity 6 armor set to grant you ample defense against the monster’s attacks. Chatacabra isn’t particularly fast, and you can easily exhaust it with either fast-hitting or elemental attacks. If you’re having trouble keeping up with the monster’s aggression, try to use the Focus Mode and target the Tempered Scar on its body (identified by a large bluish-white wound). When you wound a Tempered Scar, it glows brightly in Blue. Use Focus Strike to destroy the wound immediately.

Destroying a Tempered wound will cause the monster to topple, allowing you to land a few more attacks or an entire combo. The recommended weapons for this quest are:

  • Great Sword
  • Hammer
  • Switch Axe
  • Charge Blade
  • Hunting Horn
  • Bow

Completing the Tongue-Tied quest rewards you with a good amount of Zenny, as well as Hunter Rank points. However, the most important reward is the Armor Spheres. This quest is essentially purpose-built by Capcom to give players a way to earn Armor Spheres for the endgame. If you’re looking to max out your endgame armor sets, this quest should not be missed. Here’s a list of everything you get for completing Tongue-Tied:

  • 14760 Zenny
  • 198 Guild Points
  • Chatacabra parts
  • Hard and Advanced Armor Spheres
