RTX 3080 Ti prototype has been spotted on eBay, with 20GB VRAM! Check out the details of this unreleased GPU.

We all know about Nvidia’s legendary RTX 30 Series graphics card lineup, which was one of the best releases at the time with major performance increases across every class. However, many felt that the VRAM capacities of certain GPUs at the time of launch were not enough.
For example, the RTX 3080 launched with 10GB of video memory in late 2020. Subsequently, Nvidia also launched the RTX 3080 Ti later in 2021, with 12GB of video memory instead. However, the latest details seem to point out that Nvidia had considered a different VRAM configuration as well for the RTX 3080 Ti. Let’s check out what we know!
RTX 3080 Ti With 20GB Video Memory Selling on eBay

On eBay, it was spotted that an RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition was being sold as an engineering sample. Such cards are extremely rare to find, but are very interesting to see in action! Since the original listing, the GPU has now been sold. It was listed for $1999.99, which is enough to get a recent generation RTX 50 Series flagship.
Of course, it was not for a normal gamer to buy, but rather for interested collectors and hardware enthusiasts. The existence of this prototype edition RTX 3080 Ti with 20GB VRAM confirms that Nvidia was surely working on this GPU, since it’s a Founders Edition. Sadly, they decided to put 12GB VRAM instead when they launched the graphics card. Tom’s Hardware originally spotted the eBay listing.
RTX 3080 Ti launched with 12GB GDDR6X video memory, 10240 CUDA cores, and a 384-bit bus width. The price at launch was $1199, which was very steep. Today, the graphics card is available for much less on used markets, and is considered a capable option, still supporting recent games with ease, albeit without frame generation capabilities.
RTX 3080 Ti With 20GB VRAM Was Previously Leaked via Board Partner Gigabyte as Well

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is one of the company’s past flagship graphics cards, and is still used by many PC owners today, given its capabilities. However, before its launch, many began speculating if there was a possibility of Nvidia doubling the VRAM from RTX 3080 to 20GB for its mid-cycle RTX 3080 Ti refresh.
Turns out, Gigabyte proceeded with an entry into the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which is a regulatory office for new products to get registered. Here, an RTX 3080 Ti with 20GB VRAM was spotted a few months before launch. However, as stated earlier, the GPU launched with only 12GB VRAM instead. If Nvidia chose to launch the GPU with 20GB VRAM instead, they would have definitely made the RTX 3080 Ti much more future-proof!
