Here is all of the new information given to us on The Duskbloods by director Hidetaka Miyazaki at the Nintendo Creator’s Voice event.

The Duskbloods is FromSoftware’s newest game, announced on April 2, 2025, during Nintendo Direct. It has garnered massive attention in the few days since its announcement, and everyone is eager to know more about the newest game by the studio behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Fortunately for all of us, Miyazaki has given us a lot of information in an interview with Nintendo. We’ll be going over everything that was revealed over the course of this interview.
Structure and Setting of The Duskbloods

The Duskbloods will be a PvPvE game. Although many of FromSoftware’s games feature co-op gameplay, the entire game being focused around this structure is a new choice for FromSoftware. Additionally, The Duskbloods is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and was designed to make use of its hardware capabilities.
In the game, players will take control of vampire-like beings known as the Bloodsworn. The players, in control of these Bloodsworn, will compete for something known as the “First Blood.” The competition for the First Blood will take place in an event called the “Twilight of Humanity.” The Bloodsworn will be summoned to the Twilight from various times and places. As a result, the setting has locations from many different time periods in history.

Abilities and Gameplay in The Duskbloods

As the Bloodsworn are all superhuman entities, they possess a variety of powers. According to Miyazaki, the actions of the Bloodsworn are more dramatic than anything from FromSoftware’s previous games. As a result, players will have access to a dynamic range of movement and abilities.
The Duskbloods will feature over a dozen playable characters, each of whom will have unique abilities. Also, each of the playable characters will have some way of attacking from a distance, giving players more freedom in combat. In addition, each character will be customizable to a certain degree, allowing players to form a character that feels like their own. Each character can also summon an entity in combat.
The Duskbloods’ core gameplay loop will be through online multiplayer matches. The game will have a hub area, where players can choose their character, customize them, etc. From this hub, players can enter online multiplayer. Up to 8 players will be able to enter a match, where they will compete to accomplish their objectives.
The objective players will need to accomplish will vary from match to match. It could be to be the last man standing, or to defeat a boss, or anything else. In the end, victory will depend on a player’s Victory Points. These Victory Points can be obtained by direct combat, completing special events that occur during a match, or other means.
Players will also be given personal objectives to complete, which will grant them special rewards. At the end of a match, players will return to the hub and receive rewards whether they win or lose. Overall, players are given a high degree of freedom in how they wish to approach the game.
Characters and Customization in The Duskbloods

The different characters will each have their own “blood history” and “fate,” which serve as their customization items. These will allow players to customize their character’s appearance, abilities, characteristics, and even their relationships with other characters.
In online play, players will be given unique “roles” that will help form unique interactions in a match. Two examples of these “roles” are “Destined Rivals” and “Destined Companion.” A player with the Destined Rivals role will be tasked with defeating a certain other player designated as their rival. This will count as a personal objective.
On the opposite end, a player with Destined Companion is tasked with seeking out and forming a bond with another player designated as their companion. Such roles can be assigned to any character via customization, and will let players enjoy the role-playing aspects of the game more thoroughly.
And that is everything we have been told about The Duskbloods by Hidetaka Miyazaki from the Nintendo Creator’s Voice event.
