With the release announcement for the platform’s successor, Nintendo Switch 2, on the horizon, the original Nintendo Switch is gearing up to welcome exciting titles in the coming months of 2025.
These include the Nintendo Switch’s exclusives, sequels to popular titles, and much more. Let’s go through several highlights among them that are sure to captivate the players of Nintendo Switch.
1) Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, the visually enhanced remastered version of the hit JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles X, is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2025. Monolith Soft is bringing back one of the best Wii U JRPGs to Nintendo Switch.
Scheduled for March 20, 2025, the remaster includes additional story content and new gameplay elements to the open-world action RPG—alongside its upgraded visuals. Following the release of the remaster of the original Xenoblade Chronicles on Nintendo Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles X is now all set to step on the platform.
2) Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the newest addition to the popular Pokemon franchise, was announced back in February 2024. Since then, the fans of the franchise have been eagerly anticipating the new project. However, Game Freak, the developers of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Nintendo have not spilled much info about their ambitious newest addition.
Confirmed for a 2025 release, Pokemon Legends: Z-A takes place within Lumiose City, featuring an urban redevelopment plan to bring people and Pokémon together. It is expected that the game will incorporate some of the best mechanics from its prequel, Legends: Arceus.
3) Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was initially announced back in 2017. Since then, the project has faced multiple delays, including a major change in development from Bandai Namco Studios to Retro Studios, the team behind the previous Metroid Prime titles. The sequel to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will release in 2025 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
The long-awaited title has also earned a nomination for Most Anticipated Game at the Game Awards 2024, sharing space with other popular titles—Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Ghost of Yotei, Grand Theft Auto VI, and Monster Hunter Wilds. The newest addition follows the lore of the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter, Samus Aran.
4) Civilization 7
Announced at Gamescom 2024, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is one of the most anticipated titles of 2025. The latest installment in Sid Meier’s award-winning franchise will release on February 11, 2025. Following the huge success of Civilization 6 on Nintendo Switch, the sequel will launch on the platform on day one.
The turn-based strategy game, developed by Firaxis Games, is coming to PC and all major consoles with full cross-play functionality. In Civilization 7, players will build the greatest empire by constructing cities and architectures with strategic plans and decision-making.
5) Little Nightmares 3
Little Nightmares 3, the next installment in the popular puzzle-platform horror adventure franchise, is arriving in 2025. It will feature a full online co-op mode, a first in the franchise, which will open up the possibility of sharing the chilling experience with a friend. On the other hand, those who play solo will be accompanied by an AI companion.
Developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the franchise is returning with a brand-new story and unique eerie environments. Child protagonists Low and Alone will be equipped with interesting items.
