Twitch streamer xQc said that the WNBA players do not deserve success and criticized the women’s basketball league.
During a livestream on January 5, 2025, Twitch streamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel brought up the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). The streamer said that the “girls” who play in the women’s basketball league do not deserve success.
He mentioned an unnamed player with mainstream appeal and claimed that the league shut her down. While xQc did not name the player, fans speculate that the steamer was talking about Caitlin Clark.
The streamer had similar criticisms last year and was unhappy about WNBA players allegedly hating Clark. The player received mainstream media coverage in recent years and it also led to alleged hate from other WNBA players and basketball fans.
What xQC Said About the WNBA
During a Marvel Rivals livestream, xQc’s chat started discussing the WNBA and the streamer decided to join the conversation. He said:
“I don’t care about the WNBA. The WNBA can s*ck my b*lls. I don’t give a f*ck. And you know what? I’ll say it. None of these girls deserve success, lowkey. Their struggling dogsh*t league is in the shadows for f*cking decades or whatever the f*ck. And then one player comes along and actually hits mainstream and they can do whatever they can to shut it down.”
The streamer ended his rant by saying that the WNBA is “nowhere to be seen” and blamed the organization for it. While he did not mention Caitlin Clark’s name, fans speculate that xQc was talking about her. He had previously talked about her in June 2024.
Fans Speculate the Streamer’s Recent Rant Was About Caitlin Clark
In June 2024, the streamer criticized WNBA players for allegedly “hating” Caitlin Clark. He claimed that the WNBA players could not handle Clark’s success and were bringing down the league.
He said during a livestream last year:
“The WNBA finally gets a modicum of attention. And it’s on mostly one girl and they can’t handle it, brother. Like, the player cannot handle, like, any attention not being on them…It’s like they’re begging to slide back to the f*cking caves.”
The streamer reacted that way after seeing a clip of WNBA player Angel Reese allegedly saying “you b*tch” before knocking Clark into a basketball court. xQc was upset at Reese’s behavior and the WNBA at large. He felt that the league was holding itself back and taking itself back to “nonexistence.
Clark won TIME’s Athlete of the Year award in December 2024 and was criticized for it. WNBA team Washington Mystics’ owner Shiela Johnson said that the whole WNBA should have won the award sparking a debate in the basketball fandom. Fans speculate that xQc’s recent rant in January 2025 was sparked by Johnson’s comments.
