Painkiller is a fast-paced, action-based co-op shooter that is highly addictive. The game is built using the Unreal Engine 4 and plays exceptionally well. Even with an entry-level card like an RTX 3050, you will have a fantastic time with your friends. That said, the game plays exceptionally well, but there are issues. Starting with the visual softness, shimmering, and artifacting in the image. Then comes the heavy CPU-bound situation, followed by traversal stutters and much more.

The settings below will fix the game’s issues and help you find a balance between frame rate and visuals.

Note: To fix shimmering, we are using Intel’s XeSS 2.0 upscaler set to native-aa. This allows the upscaler to anti-alias and clean up inconsistencies in the process. XeSS is very resource-intensive. This makes the game more GPU-bound, thereby reducing CPU load. This approach helps us mitigate the CPU-bound nature in one go. However, stutters during traversal will remain, and only the developers can fix them.
