If you’re eager to catch Dynamax Entei, you’ll need to plan ahead. This powerful variant of the legendary Fire-type is set to appear in five-star Max Battles during a specific timeframe. Make sure your app is updated and your team is ready.
The Dynamax Entei Max Battle Weekend runs from April 26 at 6:00 a.m. to April 27, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time. During these two days, you’ll have your only confirmed chance—so far—to face and catch Dynamax Entei. The encounter won’t come easily, but there are several ways to improve your odds.
How To Get Dynamax Entei in Pokemon GO
First, check your Nearby menu regularly. Power Spots and Max Battles will show up more often throughout the weekend. These are your access points to encounter Dynamax Entei. Make sure you’re close to a Gym or high-traffic area where Max Battles tend to appear.

To participate, gather Max Particles. These are essential if you want to use Max Moves in battle. From April 21 to April 27, you’ll get several helpful boosts:
- Max Particle collection is capped at 1,600, higher than usual.
- You only need to cover 1/4 of the usual distance to earn Max Particles.
- Power Spots give 8× the normal amount.
- Power Spots reset more often, giving you more chances to farm.
There’s an additional bonus during the week: The cost of unlocking and powering Max Moves is reduced to 3/4 of the normal requirement. But for this to work, make sure you’ve first collected every available Max Particle in the Nearby menu. You can collect them each day, and Adventure Sync can help with tracking the distance you walk.
Free Timed Research begins on April 21 at 6:00 a.m. local time. It rewards you with a Dynamax Sobble—helpful against Entei—and also gives out Sobble Candy and more Max Particles. You need to complete all tasks and claim rewards before April 27 at 9:00 p.m., or they’ll disappear.
If you want help during raids, try using Campfire. It’s a tool within Pokemon GO that lets you check local Max Battle activity. Tap the green icon under the compass in your map view to see where others are playing.
Can You Get a Shiny Dynamax Entei?
Yes, there’s a chance. Shiny Dynamax Entei is possible during the event but not guaranteed. The odds are low, so the more raids you do, the better your chances. There’s no way to increase the odds directly—this part is about persistence.
Don’t forget, this is a time-limited event. There’s no word yet on whether Dynamax Entei will return. If you’re looking to add both the regular and Shiny versions to your collection, this weekend may be your only window for now.
