Learn how to get Sweet and Tart Apples in Pokemon GO and use them to evolve Applin into Flapple or Appletun.
With the arrival of Applin and its evolutions during the Sweet Discoveries event, two special items—Sweet Apples and Tart Apples—have become essential. Whether you are aiming to evolve into Appletun or Flapple, collecting the right type of apple is the first step. You will also need plenty of Applin Candy to go along with these items.
Let’s take a closer look at how you can find them and what you can do once you have them.
How To Get Sweet and Tart Apples in Pokemon GO
You won’t find these apples just anywhere. They only appear through specific features during the Sweet Discoveries event, and the timing and method of interaction matter.
Tap Apples that Appear on the Map
During the event, apples can randomly appear on your map as tappable items. These aren’t part of the standard wild Pokemon spawns. When tapped, they may give you either a Sweet Apple, a Tart Apple, or trigger an encounter with a Pokemon like Applin. These interactions are chance-based, so check every apple you see.
Place Mossy Lure Modules at PokeStops
To improve your odds, use Mossy Lure Modules. When active at a PokeStop, they increase the appearance rate of apples around that location. Spending time near one gives you more opportunities to tap apples and collect items. You can use either the free Mossy Lure you get from Timed Research or any you already own.
Complete Timed Research Before It Expires
Free Timed Research tied to the event includes a guaranteed Sweet Apple and a Tart Apple. You will also receive a Mossy Lure Module and some themed encounters. These tasks must be completed before Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Rewards can’t be claimed after that.
Use of Sweet Apples in Pokemon GO
Sweet Apples are used to evolve Applin into Appletun. This evolution requires:
- 200 Applin Candy
- 20 Sweet Apples
There’s no alternate use for Sweet Apples as of now. So, if Appletun is your focus, save your apples and make sure you are working on gathering enough candy from catches, transfers, or using Rare Candy.
Use of Tart Apple in Pokemon GO
Tart Apples serve one clear function: evolving Applin into Flapple. To do this, you will need:
- 200 Applin Candy
- 20 Tart Apples
No other uses have been confirmed. As with Sweet Apples, the priority should be keeping enough in your inventory for evolution, especially if you are aiming for both evolved forms.
