Scolipede is a Bug/Poison type first introduced in Generation V. This giant insect had a niche in the competitive scene using Baton Pass to pass boosts to its allies. However, this niche took a nosedive after the Generation VI meta. So let’s see if its new Mega Evolution helps it out competitively.
Best Scolipede Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Scolipede, especially if you are looking to Mega Evolve it later.
- Gunk Shot
- Megahorn
- Iron Defense
- Toxic
Much like Mega Starmie and Mega Dragonite, Mega Scolipede’s stats change so drastically that it plays completely differently from its base form. Base Scolipede’s main claim to fame was its high Speed stat of 112. However, Mega Scolipede loses 50 points in that stat to have a Speed stat of 62. This is compensated by a massive increase in bulk (60/149/99). However, this means that Scolipede will play sub-optimally until it Mega Evolves.
Gunk Shot and Megahorn are the most powerful Poison and Bug STABs that Scolipede can learn. The former is TM100, which you can get from Corbeau after defeating him, while the latter is a level-up move at 56. Iron Defense works well to make Scolipede even harder to KO on the physical side and is also a level-up move. Finally, Toxic is always great to chip away at your opponents, with Scolipede learning it at level 36.

Best Scolipede Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
An Adamant (+Atk,-SpA) nature is the best for Mega Scolipede. With its physical bulk being so high and further boosted by Iron Defense, having a focus on its Attack stat would be better. Buy an Adamant Mint from a vendor in Rogue Sector 1.
Scolipede Stats and Location
You can get a Venipede in Wild Zone 5. Evolve it into Whirlipede at Level 22 and a Scolipede at Level 30.
