Beldum, Metang, and Metagross in Pokemon Legends Z-A are Steel/Psychic type Pokemon that you can acquire after making significant progress in the game. Out of the three, you can find and catch two in the world. However, one only exists as an evolution. So, you can’t just walk into one of the Battle Zones to grab that Pokemon. With that in mind, here’s a detailed guide on acquiring all three Pokemon in the game.

In the game, you can catch Beldum and Metagross. You can only acquire Metang by evolving Beldum once you reach a specific level with the Pokemon. Now, let’s dive into the exact process of getting these.

Getting Beldum

You can catch Beldum in Lysandre Labs B1F. This location is right underneath Lysandre Cafe, and it’s accessible during Main Mission 35: Reaching Rank A. Specifically, head into the purple room on the extreme left of the map. Simply head left after passing through the door within the green rooms. If you’re unable to get the Pokemon the first time you’re in this area, don’t fret it. You can return to this spot later on by fast traveling to Lysandre Cafe.

Getting Metang

As we stated before, Metang has no spawn points out in the world of Pokemon Legends Z-A. Instead, you can get this one solely through evolution. If you have Beldum, simply keep leveling up the Pokemon until it hits Level 20. At that stage, you can evolve it into Metang.

Getting Metagross

There’s two ways of getting Metagross in the game. The first one is simply by evolving Metang. The other involves catching Metagross out in the world. Let’s take a look at how both of these ways work.

Evolution

Keep upgrading your Metang until it reaches Level 45. When that happens, you can evolve the Pokemon into Metagross.

Catching Metagross

You can only catch the Pokemon in Wild Zone 20. However, this area unlocks after Main Mission 38: The Future of Lumiose City, which is quite late in the game. Even so, there’s only a chance of Metagross spawning here as a Level 64+ Alpha Pokemon. Wild Zone 20 is a spawn point for several fully evolved Pokemon, and Metagross might not appear for you when you first reach this place. You’ll have to try several times before Metagross spawns, after which you can engage it in a battle.

Here are some tips that should help you grab the three Pokemon:

  • If you find yourself struggling against Beldum when you first encounter it, you can return at a later point. Simply keep upgrading your Pokemon and then come back to engage Beldum once more.
  • Since Metagross isn’t a guaranteed spawn in Wild Zone 20, you can simply fast travel to a different location and then back at the zone. This will reset the Pokemon roaming around in the Battle Zone. Keep repeating this process until you find Metagross. Alternatively, you can also force the reset by resting at a bench and advancing time.
  • Don’t engage in battle with Metagross as soon as it spawns for you. Instead, manually save your game before starting the fight. This way, even if you’re defeated, you can simply reload that save and try again. You won’t need to wait for Metagross to spawn again.
