One of the primary characters Pokemon Legends Z-A focuses on is Zygarde, the last of the Aura Trio Legendaries that were introduced in the Kalos Region. Since the game is directly related to the events of Pokemon X and Y, it comes as no surprise that both Xerneas and Yveltal make an appearance. Although these two are not related to the story, you will still be able to capture them. In fact, you must capture both Xerneas and Yveltal first if you want to catch Zygarde in Legends Z-A.

You can catch Zygarde at the end of ‘Mission 42 To Keep the World in Balance’ in Pokemon Legends Z-A. However, this is no easy feat as you must defeat the Pokemon in three phases first, where each is more difficult than the one before. In this article, we will explain how you can easily catch Zygarde in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

As mentioned, you can catch Zygarde at the end of Mission 42 To Keep the World in Balance in Pokemon Legends Z-A. However, this mission does not have a separate marker that is shown. You must manually trigger it, and there are some prerequisites that you must complete first.

Here is how you can unlock the Zygarde encounter in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • Complete the main mission The One That Gives, and catch Xerneas.
  • Complete the main mission The One That Takes, and catch Yveltal.
  • Head to Hotel Z. As you enter the door, L will arrive, and a cutscene will ensue. This will start the mission To Keep The World in Balance.
  • Defeat Trainer L (or Lysandre).

Once you defeat L, Zygarde will appear in its 10% form, and L will tell you that the Legendary Pokemon wants you to meet it at a certain location.

Where To Find Zygarde in Pokemon Legends Z-A

You will find Zygarde in Wild Zone 20 of Pokemon Legends Z-A after defeating L. This is the last Wild Zone that unlocks at the Prism Tower after you complete the main story and beat Hyperrogue Ange Floette. Once in the Wild Zone, head straight to the center under the main Prism Tower, where Zygarde will wait for you.

You can ignore any other Pokemon in this Wild Zone. If a random wild critter does spot you, simply head to Zygarde and interact with it. This will begin a challenging fight with Zygarde, which will stretch across three phases.

Defeat Zygarde three times in its 10% form, 50% form, and complete form to catch it in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Zygarde will be at level 84 during all three stages, so be prepared for a tough fight if your Pokemon are below level 75 at least. In particular, Fairy-type and Ice-type Pokemon will work the best against Zygarde in all three phases.

Once you deplete Zygarde Complete Form’s health completely in phase three, a pop-up will appear on your screen where L will say:

“Zygarde has deemed you worth! Let your Poke Ball fly!”

At this point, throw your Poke Ball, and you should be able to capture Zygarde easily in Legends Z-A. For the best results, use a high-tier Poke Ball like the Ultra Ball to capture this Legendary monster. L will also give you the Zygarde Cube, a key item that allows you to change Zygarde’s forms.

In total, Zygarde has four forms in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • 10% forme, where Zygarde appears as a four-legged creature.
  • 50% forme, where Zygarde takes on the appearance of a giant snake-like creature.
  • 100% forme, where Zygarde becomes a humanoid-mecha beast, with defined arms and legs, and flowing drapes on the back.
  • Mega Zygarde, its Mega Evolution under by holding Zygardite.

Once you get the Zygarde Cube from L, you can have Zygarde appear in either the 10% or 50% form when in your team. However, during battle, once Zygarde drops to half health, it will automatically take its complete forme. You will only be able to Mega Evolve Zygarde when it is in complete forme. Zygarde’s 10%, 50%, and 100% formes all have access to the same moves. However, when it mega evolves, Core Enforcer changes to become Nihil Light, which is a special signature move introduced in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
