Phantasmal Flames is the next expansion of the Pokemon TCG. It’s based off the Japanese expansion called Inferno X. We can use that set as a basis to determine which cards from Phantasmal Flames are likely to be very highly valued. These cards are called Chase Cards because you need to purchase a lot of packs in order to “chase after” them, and they also tend to be full art variants. Bonus points are given for being competitively viable as well.

What Are the Chase Cards From Pokemon TCG Phantasmal Flames?

These full art cards are expected to be on everyone’s wishlist when Phantasmal Flames drops:

  • Rotom ex
  • Mega Lopunny ex
  • Mega Sharpedo ex
  • Dawn
  • Mega Charizard X ex

1) Rotom Ex

Rotom ex is a surprising Chase Card from this set. The card is, of course, gorgeous, as we get to see base Rotom with Rotom Heat, Rotom Wash, and Rotom Mow in the background. There’s also a bit of a retro tech vibe to the card, which suits this Pokemon well. It has some interesting competitive aspects as well; when it’s in play, all Rotom cards can hold two Pokemon Tools thanks to its ability, Multi-Adapter.

2) Mega Lopunny Ex

Mega Lopunny ex also gets a Special Art Rare, which looks psychedelic. In the card, it looks like Lopunny is either battling in a disco or in an arena with really trippy lighting. So it’s up to the player’s imagination to determine whether it is tearing up the dance floor or delivering a smackdown to an opponent.

3) Mega Sharpedo Ex

The trippiness doesn’t stop, as Mega Sharpedo ex also brings some gorgeous art. In the card we can see the Mega diving downwards, getting ready to deliver a crushing blow. Additionally, Mega Sharpedo ex is seeing decent use in Japan’s City Leagues, making it a very useful Mega as well.

4) Dawn

Dawn has always been extremely popular, second to maybe Lillie from the Generation VII games, so her being a popular card should not come as a shock. She has two full arts, a Special Art Rare and a Special Rare, both of which are extremely awesome. However, Dawn is a powerful Supporter as well.

You can get a Basic Pokemon, a Stage 1, and a Stage 2 in one turn by playing her. Imagine playing a Grass-type like Mega Venusaur ex on a single turn thanks to this card and Forest of Vitality. That should give you a taste of what Dawn can accomplish.

5) Mega Charizard X Ex

Yeah, of course, the set that features Mega Charizard X has Mega Charizard X ex as the most chased after card. Not only does it have an amazing Special Art Rare showcasing all its forms that came before, but like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, it gets a Mega Hyper Rare. So, no surprise that it’s the Pokemon card that will be most valued from Phantasmal Flames.
