The Pokemon TCG Pocket Open event concluded at Pokemon Worlds, and here we analyze the decks used by the top 8 participants.

Pokemon Worlds was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Here, the first official Pokemon TCG Pocket tournament took place, called the ‘WCS 2025 TCG Pocket Double Deck Open Championship.’ This format was quite different from any usual TCG Pocket tournament, as contestants had to make and submit two decks with no clashing Pokemon cards. This made for an interesting format, and the winning deck might shock you. Here is a breakdown of all the top-performing decks.

To close out #PokemonWorlds this weekend, here is a look at how the big side event ended up going! Thank you to everyone who participated, and congrats to our winner! pic.twitter.com/1HIn6Hp7Wx
The two winning decks were a Charizard ex and Sylveon ex deck along with a Buzzwole ex deck. Apart from this, other notable performances include Dakrai ex/Giratina ex decks, which held a spot in the majority of the top eight decks.
The various Eevee-lutions were also quite common among the highest placing battlers. Let us break down all the major decks used:
Cade K: Charizard ex and Sylveon ex/ Buzzwole ex and Pheromosa

Surprisingly, the tournament winner did not use the most popular deck amongst the top eight. Instead, the Shining Revelry version of Charizard was able to win the whole thing. Sylveon ex is used in this deck for its extra pull power, which helps you get out Charizard ex more consistently. Charizard and Sylveon were used by the sixth-place contestant, indicating that the first-place performance is not too far-fetched to consider.
Apart from this, Buzzwole was a surprise addition to see at the top spot. However, Pheromosa and Buzzwole combined with Celesteela are a tried-and-true tactic that works really well once you get your combo going.
Saad A: Darkrai ex and Giratina ex/ Arceus ex and Oricorio

The most common deck in the top eight ended up with a close finish at number two. Darkrai ex and Giratina ex is one of the most consistent decks in TCG Pocket history. It is simple and easy to play as well. Therefore, it is no surprise that so many decks and players used a combination of Darkrai and Giratina.
Arceus ex and Oricorio are interesting choices as well. Oricorio can counter any ex Pokemon while Arceus is able to charge on the Bench. Electric energy will be used here, since Arceus is a colorless attacker.
Chase A: Greninja and Oricorio/ Flareon ex and Leafeon ex

Greninja and Oricorio alone are certainly not a combination most people would expect. You can use Greninja to snipe from the back, while Oricorio stalls the opposition. Using Water energy is probably a good idea with this deck, as you will be able to survive better in the long run.
Meanwhile, Flareon ex and Leafeon ex are a known combination that works well together. Leafeon is able to charge itself up, which nullifies the reason for you to put Grass energy in the deck as well. Regardless, the deck worked well since the user was able to bag the third place spot in the tournament.
Other Major and Minor Decks
As stated earlier, Giratina and Darkrai were the most found decks throughout the entire tournament. However, the Eevee-lutions decks are also certainly not playing around. Different combinations are all found within these top eight rankings. Some combination examples are:
- Flareon ex and Leafeon ex: Ranked third and eight in the tournament
- Flareon ex Eevee ex: Ranked seventh
- Sylveon ex Espeon ex: Fourth position
None of the other decks in the top eight were found as commonly as the ones mentioned above.
