The Ranking System Explained For Pokemon TCG Pocket

Rank up as you win more battles (Image via The Pokémon Company)

Every player will start from the beginner rank. Naturally, this is the lowest rank at any point in time. From here, players can rank up, upon winning duels against other players.

The various ranks are:

  • Beginner 1-4
  • Poke Ball 1-4
  • Great Ball 1-4
  • Ultra Ball 1-4
  • Master Ball

Only the top players in the Master Ball rank will have their global ranks displayed. This incentivizes players to fight for the top spot more ferociously in a bid to prove their mettle.

Additionally, you should also know that losses do NOT decrease your rank until you get to the Great Ball rank. Therefore, you can keep jumping into battles (with hopes and dreams), with no worry of losing your rank in case of a loss.

Lastly, consecutive wins will let you rank up even faster than normal, so try to get a win streak and maintain it.

How Long Will the First Ranked Season Be in Pokemon TCG Pocket

One season will last for about a month (Image via The Pokémon Company)

The debut season started on March 28, 2025, and will last for a month until April 27, 2025. This gives players plenty of time to battle it out for the top spot in the game. Once this period is over, new ranks will be calculated for players based on their previous season’s ranks.

However, if you are hoping to battle only real players in this game mode, you might want to rethink that. This is because at the lower ranks, players will be fighting against artificial intelligence opponents. This makes sense as most players are likely to move past the beginner ranks after a few days, leaving the lower ranks struggling for more players.

That was everything to know about the ranking system in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Have fun while climbing the ladder!
