With the year looking absolutely stacked, in this article, we shall go over the five PS5 releases to look forward to in 2025.
The year 2024 was a remarkable year for gaming, full of notable achievements and memorable games. Astrobot, a platformer, won Game of the Year in 2024. China, a market predominantly invested in Gacha games, made a stellar entry into the AAA space with Black Myth: Wukong. Indiana Jones, too, was once again relevant after two decades of weak films. Needless to say, it was a hot year, and 2025 looks to keep this momentum going. For PS5 users especially, there are a lot of games to look forward to, all of which we’ve listed below. In this article, we shall go over the five PS5 releases to look forward to in 2025.
1) Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Tsushima was a remarkable achievement in 2020, mixing visuals reminiscent of traditional Japanese Nihonga with an addictive game loop. The game was a painting brought to life, and Ghost of Yotei looks to give players more of the same but empowered through the capabilities of current-gen PS5 hardware. Sucker Punch rarely misses, and we’re beyond excited to see what Ghost of Yotei and its new protagonist have in store for us this year. While the game has no fixed release date as of yet, it is slated for a 2025 release.
2) Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
The original Death Stranding can only be described as an acquired taste. The game is polarizing, to say the least, with fans divided on the title’s approach to gameplay. Death Stranding’s story, too, would no doubt leave film nerds sleep-deprived. Regardless of what you may think of it, the title is ambitious, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will no doubt push Kojima’s vision to new heights. Slated for a release in 2025, we honestly have no idea what wacky lore and world-building Kojima has in store for us.
3) Monster Hunter Wilds
When things were looking dire for Capcom in the early 2010s, it was Monster Hunter: World and Resident Evil 7 that helped the struggling developer regain form and capture lightning in a bottle. Capcom has continued forward with that momentum and is bringing in all the stops to exceed expectations with Monster Hunter Wilds in 2025. Set for release on February 28, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds builds upon the solid fundamentals of its predecessors and brings them to modern hardware. With how exciting all the footage thus far has looked, we cannot wait.
4) Dynasty Warriors Origins
Dynasty Warriors Origins is the latest entry in the long and storied Dynasty Warriors series. The title, however, is looking to be a soft reboot, aiming to lure newcomers to this amazing series. The developers have also doubled down on their focus on gameplay, introducing new strategic facets to the game’s exhilarating combat. With so many tweaks and changes refining the gameplay, we are beyond excited to get our hands on Dynasty Warriors Origins on January 17, 2025.
5) Grand Theft Auto 6
You knew this one was going to make the list. Regardless of which console you are on, Grand Theft Auto 6 is not one to miss. After over a decade of waiting, the game is finally on the horizon, and we cannot contain the hype. Especially seeing Rockstar push last-gen hardware to its limits with Red Dead Redemption 2, we can’t imagine what they’d do with better hardware. GTA 6 will not only be a milestone for gaming but also a cultural landmark destined to shatter entertainment records.
