If you want to master Blue Lock Rivals, then Chemical Reactions are a key gameplay mechanic to understand. For those unaware, Chemical Reactions are special combo moves that can be triggered when two specific styles are present on the pitch. This is typically activated by pressing a button. This article explains how the new Chemical Reaction (August Update) works.

Chemical Reactions are special combo moves that occur when two players with compatible character styles execute specific abilities in a precise sequence. Sometimes, this also triggers a cinematic cutscene.

A new update was recently released in Blue Lock Rivals. The update made some changes to how the Chemical Reaction works. Here are the notable changes:

List of Available Chemical Reactions

  • No Distance Requirement: The update removes distance limits. Players with shared Chemical Reaction styles (e.g., Kaiser x NEL Isagi) can trigger it from anywhere on the pitch.
  • Use the Chemical Reaction Button: Press “F” to initiate (first player) or respond (second player) to an on-screen prompt (example: Logical Play for NEL Isagi). This simplifies timing compared to the old pass-based mechanics.
  • Cooldown: A visible cooldown timer now shows when the reaction is ready again, replacing vague timing.
