Samsung is in preparation to make its entry in to the extended reality market with its first XR headset, internally known simply as Project Moohan. The speculated debut for this headset is around the latter half of 2025. Among other upcoming launches, like the Galaxy Tab S11 series and a new Galaxy Watch, the Samsung Android XR headset is going to shape Samsung’s market position in the innovative products’ industry.

Thanks to Samsung’s Q1 earnings report, there has been news circulating on its upcoming wearable technology. Prior to the earnings reports, there were indications that the headset was set to potentially release in 2026. However, post the Q1 2025 earnings presentation, we have a clearer idea of Samsung’s plans for the latter half of 2025.

During the presentation, Samsung’s Mobile Division shared outlines for their plans for the second half of the year. These plans also included the exploration of new product categories, such as XR. Coupling this indication with the current momentum at recent tech events, there is a very strong possibility for a mid-to-late 2025 launch for the Samsung Android XR Headset.

One of the most standout aspects of Project Moohan is its integration with Google’s Android XR platform. This platform is designed in collaboration with Google for immersive extended reality experiences. We can expect to see a showcase of new features of the Android XR SDK at the upcoming Google I/O 2025 event. Google plans to provide further insights into capabilities like hand-tracking and the incorporation of augmented content.
