Get higher Ollies in Skate with the various methods in this article, and easily take on big ledges, gaps, and other obstacles.

Ollies are the core of skateboarding, and therefore, they are also a crucial part of EA’s latest title, Skate. In the game, the move itself is quite easy to do. However, the tricky part comes when you try to get a better height with your Ollies.
To achieve this feat, there are several methods that you can use, such as taking the help of the assistance given by developers or modifying your approach a bit to get the best results. To further simplify these ways, we have made this comprehensive guide on how you can perform higher Ollies in Skate.
How To Perform Higher Ollies in Skate

To do higher Ollies, first, players will have to understand how the controls in EA’s Skate work. The game boasts a Flick-It system unlike its other arcade-style peers. All tricks, including Flips, Grinds, and Grabs, follow the same mechanics. So, in theory, you can perform an Ollie by simply flicking the Right Analog Stick (RS) of your controller upwards. However, to reach a greater height than normal, you will have to take a couple of additional elements into account.
Since the inputs are easy, the main difficulty lies in the precision of it. Your flicking speed determines the amount of “explosive pop” you get. Therefore, a fast flick gives you more height. Similarly, if you perform a lethargic, slower click, you will reach less height than average. In addition to that, the developers have added pre-wind options to give you a hand in these situations.
If you want to boost your character’s Ollies further, then you will have to first hold down the RS and then flick it upwards quickly. This action needs to be precise, properly timed, and fast enough for a higher Ollie. Naturally, players won’t be able to do it consistently at first if they have not mastered the game’s controls. But with practice, it is certainly possible. Additionally, for more assistance, you can enable the following setting:
- Navigate to settings.
- Then, go to Gameplay, and then to Assists.
- Scroll towards the bottom of the menu, and you will come across the Minimum Pop Height Amount option.
- Players can set it to 100 for better pop height in Skate.
Furthermore, keep in mind that momentum is also key. The faster you ride, the better height you will get with your Ollies. You can do this with either pushing (not with the back foot) or using ramps and bowls as natural catapults.

Boned Ollies and Grabs Can Also Give You Greater Height

Other than the methods given above, there are two more options you can try for higher Ollies. These are Boning the Ollie and then making your character grab their skateboard. This way, you will be able to reach the maximum height possible and with flair and style.
To do this, first perform an Ollie. During the move, hold the Right Analog Stick up. Now, your character will grab and then pull the skateboard and tuck their feet close to their upper body. With this, you will be able to achieve a higher position in the air. Boned Ollies are useful moves that will give you the extra edge you need to tackle ledges and gaps that are higher than usual.
However, keep in mind that the move becomes quite difficult, especially for newcomers, if you try to combine it with any flip tricks. Alternatively, we recommend that you try to chain a Boned Ollie with a grab move, since taking hold of the skateboard mid-air can give you more height and a better position.
