‘Nobody can be trusted’ is a point Stalker 2 makes repeatedly through its narrative. This world is broken, filled with people looking out for themselves at everyone else’s expense. The ‘Deal with the Devil’ quest in Stalker 2 explores these very themes, diving into the untrusting nature of the gangs in the game as well as the consequences of siding with them. Your search for Nestor has brought you knocking on Varan’s door. But something is amiss, and he cannot be trusted.

How To Complete Deal With the Devil Quest
Varan’s Deal
You begin the quest by going to the Plant and meeting Varan. He has captured one of the men who attacked his crew, and this man may have the information you need on your Scanner. Varan offers to set up a meeting with the culprit, but as expected, not for free. You can either pay him 20,000 coupons, attack him, or do him a favor and kill Shah or Roosevelt.
If you choose to pay him, he will hand you a key to a door downstairs, which will lead you to the prisoner. If you choose to go after Shah or Roosevelt, you will unlock the ‘King of the Hill’ side quest.
We do not recommend paying him, as it is money that can be used elsewhere. Going after the Shah and Roosevelt is a massive detour that consumes a lot of time, with very few rewards to show for it. Furthermore, the quest holds no major narrative significance. We recommend killing Varan right here to get to the prisoner and obtain information faster.
Examine the Prisoner
Fight off and kill Varan and his men. After you do so, loot his body to retrieve a key and head down the hole in the floor where you killed him. Using the key, enter the room with the gray door marked by a glowing lamp at the top. Behind this door is a prison where you will find Nestor’s body alongside the body of the Last One, another prisoner. Loot their bodies, and you will obtain the broken PDA. Leave the plant area after retrieving the item to complete the ‘Deal with the Devil’ quest.
