Journey is one of the most iconic games of all time, and its cult status is often justified by its stellar visuals and heart-wrenching soundtrack. One underrated aspect of the game that often flies under the radar is its co-op. Co-op was a big part of why Journey was such a beloved game, and to this day, it remains one of the best co-op experiences of all time.

Now, the creators of Journey are back once again with a new title, Sword of the Sea. Sword of the Sea promises to take you on another journey through gorgeous vistas backed by an emotionally charged soundtrack.

This time, however, the journey is yours and yours alone. Sword of the Sea does not have co-op or any multiplayer elements. This is a disappointment for fans of Journey who hoped to play another co-op game from the same creators.

As stated earlier, Sword of the Sea does not have co-op or any multiplayer elements. The game is exclusively single-player, and the journey is yours to experience alone. As for why the developers made the decision to keep this game single-player only, we do not know. However, their track record suggests they have moved on from making co-op games.

Giant Squid’s last two games were Abzu and The Pathless. Both of these games were single-player-only experiences and still managed to retain the heart of Journey. If you liked Journey purely for the emotions it invoked, Sword of the Sea might still be right up your alley despite its lack of co-op. But if you loved Journey mainly for the shared experience, you will not find that same joy here.
