Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon starts you off in a prison cell, undergoing horrific treatments for the Red Death. A guard comes over to your door and talks to you, only to get shot in the head by an arrow. A mysterious veiled figure comes over to your door, unlocking it, giving you the freedom to escape.

On your way out of the Island Asylum, the hooded figure introduces himself as Caradoc and guides you towards the exit. Then, the whole debacle with King Arthur happens, after which you make your way to the shore and Caradoc’s boat. When you tell Caradoc the truth, he immediately pulls his blade on you, kicking off a boss fight.  Caradoc seemingly takes NO DAMAGE and kills you in a single hit. He reveals that this was part of his plan to kill King Arthur’s soul, leading you to believe that you were scripted to lose the fight.

One look at the game’s achievements, however, suggests that you can beat Caradoc during the boss fight.  Defeating Caradoc during the prologue gives you the “No Chains, No Destiny” achievement. If you’re looking to unlock this achievement but just can’t seem to beat the boss, we’re here to help.

To beat Caradoc, you need to use all the tools you have at hand. By the time you reach the shores, you’ll have a bow and arrow, Blood Transfusion, Burning Ember, and a few melee weapons.

With the tools in hand, you can attack him to initiate the fight with a melee weapon. As soon as the fight starts, jump onto the boat and stand on the edge. Use the Burning Ember (heavy cast) to set him on fire and eat a quarter of his HP.

Once you’re out of Mana, use your bow to deal headshots. Caradoc may try to heal himself, so use your arrows to prevent that. Wait for your Mana to regenerate and switch back to spells once it has. Burn him again to eat a chunk of his HP, and finish him off with the last few arrows.
