King Arthur plays a significant role in the narrative of Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon. And wherever King Arthur goes, the stories of his legendary sword, Excalibur, follow. The game does more than simply tell you those stories. Instead, you get to retrieve the very sword of legend.

However, doing so might be trickier than you think. In this guide, we’ll explore where and how you can get your hands on Excalibur in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon.

You’ll find the sword of legend in the Horns of the South. In the central area, the sword is stuck inside a creepy-looking statue with several hands sticking out. As you approach, there won’t be any enemy encounters or boss fights. You can simply walk up to it and interact with it. Doing so will begin the process of pulling the sword out. However, as soon as it begins, you start losing significant amounts of your HP. Basically, you’ll die long before you can pull the sword out completely from within the statue.

Now, you might be wondering how you can get the sword if your health drains so quickly while pulling it out. You’ll need lots of powerful healing items if you want to successfully pull Excalibur out of the statue without dying. While you can try to use healing potions and cooked food to quickly nullify the health drain effect, we suggest using the Queen’s Honey item instead.

The Queen’s Honey is a powerful healing item that completely restores your health bar. However, you’ll only get access to this after you complete the Confrontation Looks Like Hope quest. In that quest, if you side with the bees, the hive will reward you with this powerful potion. With this potion in your inventory, walk up to Excalibur and begin pulling. Keep using Queen’s Honey to restore all your health until the pull animation is complete. Retrieving Excalibur will unlock the By My Own Hand achievement or trophy.
