Black Myth Wukong might not feature multiple weapons, but it gives players options regarding the game’s primary weapon type – the Staff. As you progress through the main story chapters, you will obtain various crafting materials, either as a reward for defeating certain bosses or completing specific quests. These crafting materials can then be used to create different Staff types or upgrades for existing ones.

Black Myth Wukong is generous enough to dole out new Staff upgrades as you progress through the main storyline. However, there are also some optional weapons that you can completely miss out on, which are vastly superior to the ones that you unlock via progression. Here are the 5 most powerful weapons in Black Myth Wukong that you won’t want to miss out on.

Most powerful weapons (Staff upgrades) in Black Myth Wukong

The most powerful weapon in Black Myth Wukong is the Jingubang, which is automatically unlocked upon reaching the finale of the game’s story. However, another weapon that one-ups the Jingubang in terms of attack power and critical damage is the Stormflash Loong Staff. Unfortunately, the Stormflash Loong Staff is exclusive to New Game+ and has a rather long list of unlocking requirements.

Apart from the Jingubang and the Stormflash Loong Staff, there’s also the Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear, which offers stats similar to those of the Jingunbang but with a different moveset. The Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear is obtained after defeating Erlang Shen in the Mei-Jian Peak. That being said, here are the 5 best weapons in Black Myth Wukong:

  1. Stormflash Loong Staff
  2. Jingubang
  3. Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear
  4. Bishui Beast Staff
  5. Staff of Blazing Karma

5) Staff of Blazing Karma

  • Weapon: Staff of Blazing Karma
  • Attack Power: 100
  • Secondary attributes:
    • Defense – 40
    • Burn Resistance – 10
  • Unique Effect: Charged-heavy attacks with 3 or more Focus charges inflict Burn damage.
  • How to get: Crafted after Completion of Chapter 5

The Staff of Blazing Karma might not deal as much damage as the Bishui Staff or other weapons in the list, but it has a unique trick that makes it viable even in the end game. Apart from its base attack power, the Staff of Blazing Karma can also inflict Burn damage with its charged attacks. Like Poison, the Burn elemental status can passively whittle down a boss’s health over time. Additionally, the Staff of Blazing Karma grants a passive buff to the Destined One’s Defense and Burn Resistance.

The Staff of Blazing Karma is available to craft in Black Myth Wukong’s Chapter 5 (Flaming Mountain), after defeating the Keeper of Flaming Mountains and the Yin-Yang Fish.

4) Bishui Beast Staff

  • Weapon: Bishui Beast Staff
  • Attack Power: 135
  • Secondary attributes:
    • Critical Hit Chance – 10%
  • Unique Effect: None
  • How to get: Crafted after Chapter 5, beating Bishui Beast, optional boss.

The Bishui Beast Staff is easily the most powerful weapon in Black Myth Wukong, until you get your hands on the Jingubang. Not only does it easily melt through end-game bosses, but it also deals incredibly high amounts of critical damage. Bishui even surpassed the Jingubang and the Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear in that department. The only downside to using this weapon over something like the Staff of Blazing Karma is that the Bishui Beast Staff has no passive perks apart from the base attack power and critical chance.

The Bishui Beast Staff is available to craft in Chapter 5 (Flaming Mountain) after defeating the Bishui Beast optional boss in the secret area – Bishui Cave.

3) Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear

  • Weapon: Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear
  • Attack Power: 135
  • Secondary attributes:
    • Critical Hit Chance – 6%
  • Unique Effect:
    • Increases damage dealt by Thrust Stance.
    • Summons additional projectiles upon performing the Forceful Thrust.
  • How to get: Chapter 3 secret area, beating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, The Four Heavenly Kings, and Erlang Shen

The Tri-Point Double-Edged Staff is identical to the Jingubang, in terms of attributes. This aligns with the Journey to the West lore where Erlang’s weapon was the only thing that could match Sun Wukong’s Ryui Jingu Bang. However, being a Spear, instead of a Staff, the Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear has a vastly different light attack move set compared to the Jingubang. Additionally, the weapon has a unique perk that increases damage dealt by Thrust Stance, and also summons additional projectile swords when performing the Forceful Thrust.

The Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear is rewarded upon defeating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, The Four Heavenly Kings, and Erlang Shen, in Chapter 3’s secret area – Mei-Jian Peak.

2) Jingubang

  • Weapon: Jingubang
  • Attack Power: 135
  • Secondary attributes:
    • Critical Hit Chance – 6%
  • Unique Effect:
    • The 4th Focus point gauge does not deplete over time.
    • Casting a Spell increases the Critical Hit Chance (when equipped with Sun Wukong’s armor set).
    • Critical Hits reduce the cooldown for all Spells (when equipped with Sun Wukong’s armor set).
  • How to get: completion of the main story.

The Jingubang is obtained automatically as you reach the final stretch of Black Myth Wukong’s main story. As the staff used by Sun Wukong himself, the Jingubang is arguably the most powerful weapon in Black Myth Wukong, at least until you jump into New Game+. Not only does the Jingubang have the most attack power out of any other weapon in the game, but it also has a special perk that limits the depletion of the 4th Focus charge. Furthermore, if the weapons are equipped alongside Wukong’s armor set, it grants a Critical Hit Chance and Spell cooldown buff.

1) Stormflash Loong Staff

  • Weapon: Stormflash Loong Staff
  • Attack Power: 140
  • Secondary attributes:
    • Critical Hit Chance – 9%
  • Unique Effect: Inflicts Thunder damage when in Shocked state.
  • How to get: New Game+ and beating 3 secret Loong bosses.

The Stormflash Loong Staff is easily the most powerful weapon in Balck Myth Wukong, simply due to the amount of damage it deals as well as the incredibly high Critical Chance. With the Stormflash Loong Staff, most of your attacks are bound to be Critical Hits, especially if equipped alongside the Yakshasa armor set, which is unlocked after completing Chapter 5 (Flaming Mountain). Furthermore, the Stormflash Loong Staff also deals Thunder damage, which reduces the enemy’s Qi, and staggers them easily. However, the weapon only deals Thunder damage using its charged-heavy strikes.

Thankfully, once fully charged, the weapon is imbued with Thunder for a brief amount of time, allowing you to use its elemental abilities even with the light attack or varied combos. The only downside to this weapon is that it unlocks exclusively in New Game+, and after having defeated the 3 secret Loongs in Black Myth Wukong’s opening chapters.
