Moving buildings in The King is Watching is essential due to the game’s unique mechanic. Resources and buildings will only function if the King’s gaze is upon them. This translates into a 5×5 tile setup, where you focus your vision on what resources you might need at the moment. So, moving buildings while constructing new ones is important in The King is Watching. Here’s how you move buildings in the game.

Earlier in the demo of The King is Watching, the ability to move buildings was limited to a King’s ability. There was only one King at the time, but the developers announced that there would be more kings, and moving buildings maybe would have repercussions. However, in the final release of the game, you can now move buildings with the Shift+Left Click button as any King in The King is Watching.

The game’s resource system is built on a 5×5 tile that is located on the left of your screen. But only the selected tiles will continue to obtain resources as a game mechanic. So, moving buildings after every large battle and after acquiring new resources is recommended. However, you can also demolish buildings you don’t want. You won’t get the resources back, but you will receive a free tile. The demolish button is located beside the building tiles, next to the sell blueprint button.

Buildings help you produce resources, units, and defenses. Reorganizing them as the game progresses is important. However, there are penalties if you move buildings too often, so it is advised to properly place buildings from the start. For example, units that need specific resources to create should be placed beside the building that will produce that unit. This will help you maintain the maximum limit of a unit building. Unit buildings have limits that will stop producing resources like wood and gold once they reach the maximum limit.

Why Move Buildings in the King is Watching?

The King’s Gaze is the main reason why you need to move your buildings during your playthrough. It starts off from three tiles till six. Placing your gaze on what you require at the moment is crucial to defending your city from enemy forces. Attacks in The King is Watching are executed in waves. So, you will be able to counter enemies not immediately, but while your forces are defending. For that reason, moving buildings to ensure your gaze is optimized is crucial to completing the game.
