Umamusume Pretty Derby is a racing sim above all and naturally features different kinds of tracks. More specifically, there are a total of four tracks in the game: Firm Track, Good Track, Soft Track, and Heavy Track, and all of them play differently. The distinct patterns and effective racing styles in these environments differentiate them from one another.

Thus, using only one tactic for all of them certainly will not work. To properly make strategies for each of the four tracks, we must know about them in detail. Below, we have given all the details.

Firm Track

Normal conditions rule the Firm Track

Firm Track is your simple and normal racing track that does not require additional strategies or tactics. These conditions do not grant advantages or disadvantages for any racing styles in the game. Therefore, any properly trained Uma can excel here with their natural traits and skills. Firm Tracks have normal racing speed and do not reduce or obstruct it in any way. Thus, everything ultimately comes down to your horse girls, training methods, and racing style preference.

Good Track

Compared to the previous entry in this guide, Good Tracks are softer. Naturally, the racing speed is reduced slightly under such conditions. To battle it out, you will need to focus on Power over everything else. Of course, speed and balance will also be important factors. However, to handle Good Tracks, we highly recommend that you train your Uma’s power stats beforehand.

Soft Track

A wet track is quite hard to run on, and the Soft Tracks in Umamusume Pretty Derby represent exactly that. As you can expect, your Uma’s overall speed takes a hit in such environments, and simply finishing the race with a decent position becomes a behemoth task. To survive on Soft Tracks, you will rely heavily on your Stamina and Guts stats. These two traits are of the utmost importance and will surely make the difference between a massive win and a heartbreaking loss.

Heavy Track

Heavy Tracks are the ultimate challenge (Image via Cygames)

The Heavy Track is a soft track on steroids. The amplified wet conditions create arguably the hardest track in the entire game, where your horse girl’s speed gets reduced massively. On this track, the entire race dynamic changes dramatically, and simply running in a straight line without falling behind feels like an achievement in itself.

As you can expect, to survive on a Heavy Track, your Uma will have to maintain and defend her position while making sure that she does not spend too much stamina.
