The Taurus Cup is the first Champions Meeting event in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. It features a 2400m Medium race with players competing in a 3v3v3 format. With the Graded League offering greater rewards for placing higher in the rankings, creating an effective team of three veteran umas is required.
Not only do participating racers need high stats, but they also require effective skills to secure victories consistently. Besides triggering their own unique skills, umas inherit weaker versions of their Legacies’ unique skills. This guide outlines the ideal Legacies (parents) to borrow and train for your participating veteran umas in Taurus Cup or any Medium race event.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: Taurus Cup Legacies Guide
Here is everything you need to be looking for in your ideal Legacies for the Taurus Cup, listed in descending order of importance:
- 9 Stars in Blue (Stat) Sparks
- Acceleration Unique Skill Green Spark
- Medium Aptitude Pink Spark
- Turf Aptitude Pink Spark
The trainee is almost guaranteed to inherit unique skills from both Legacies if their affinity is at a normal or high level. Inheriting acceleration-unique skills is important because Taurus Cup has a long last spurt, lasting 777 m. This means that reaching top speed quickly is essential to secure a lead.
Since you will already be focused on maximizing speed during training with the majority of your deck consisting of Speed Support Cards, last spurt acceleration skills will supplement Power and propel your uma to her top speed quicker. Inheriting Turf Pink Sparks will raise Turf aptitude to S-rank, which increases Power by 5%. Similarly, raising Medium aptitude to S-rank increases Speed by 5%.

Taiki Shuttle
- Ideal For: Pace Chaser, Late Surger, End Closer
- Unique: Shooting For Victory
‘Shooting For Victory’ slightly increases acceleration when positioned below 2nd place and in the first half of the pack on the final corner. Because of the skill’s placement requirement, Taiki Shuttle is not an ideal parent for Front Runners but serves as an excellent one for other running styles.
Maruzensky
- Ideal For: All
- Unique: Red Shift/LP1211-M
‘Red Shift/LP1211-M’ slightly increases acceleration, activating on the final corner as long as the user is in the top 5. This straightforward activation condition makes Maruzensky’s unique skill the most reliable and usable for all running styles.
Oguri Cap
- Ideal For: All
- Unique: Triumphant Pulse
If you already have a high enough Power stat (850+) and one acceleration skill that activates in the late-race, investing in Oguri Cap as a parent is ideal. This is because her ‘Triumphant Pulse’ unique skill (inherited) moderately increases speed in the final 200m of the race. This will push your uma’s velocity beyond its upper limit set by the Speed stat at the time it is needed most.
