The Gemini Cup is a Champions Meeting event following the Taurus Cup in Umamusume Pretty Derby. This event will be even tougher than the Taurus Cup because of its extreme length as a Long race. Refer to our guide to form a training strategy for the race with recommendations for ideal stat distribution, skills, team formation, and much more.

Stamina

Stamina is the primary stat to focus on for the Gemini Cup. The actual Stamina requirement for the race is 1500 Stamina + 500 Guts. However, since it is not possible to achieve this level of Stamina through training, you will have to invest in rare (gold) Stamina recovery skills and passive (green) Stamina skills. Here are the Stamina requirements when taking into account rare recovery skills (RR).

Running Style1 RR2 RR 3 RR
Front Runner 1000+900+750+
Pace Chaser12001000+800+
Late Surger1000+850+700+
End Closer 1000+850+700+

We recommend investing in at least two and ideally three rare recovery skills. Doing so will allow you to train Stamina less and invest more in Speed and Power.

Speed

After you have met the race’s Stamina requirements through training and skills, Speed is the most important stat to focus on. It dictates the top speed of your runner in the last spurt or final straight of the track.

Power

Gemini Cup’s last spurt is relatively short, 533m, compared to Taurus Cup’s 777m last spurt. This means that your runners will have a shorter time duration to reach top speed, making Power nearly as important as Speed. While you should still focus most on Stamina, followed by Speed, supplement Power with last-spurt acceleration skills that activate after the final corner.

Stamina

  • Swinging Maestro
  • Breath of Fresh Air
  • Cooldown
  • Race Planner (Pace Chaser)
  • Gourmand (Pace Chaser)

Rare Stamina skills are a must-have for the Gemini Cup. Swinging Maestro, Race Planner, and Gourmand will always activate at the right time. However, Breath of Fresh Air and Cooldown will only be useful 60% of the time since they activate on a straight. Some characters, such as Daiwa Scarlet, Oguri Cap, and Narita Taishin, gain access to rare recovery skills by upgrading their potential level.

Stamina recovery skills that trigger in the early race, late race, or have complex conditions provide the least value. However, if you have no other choice, investing in them to get two or three total rare recovery skills can be worth it. These include:

  • Iron Will (Late Surger or End Closer)
  • Lay Low (Late/End)
  • Unruffled
  • Adrenaline Rush

Adrenaline Rush, provided by SSR Rice Shower, only activates when your uma runs out of Stamina. This is likely to happen on the final straight, which makes the skill low value. However, if your uma runs out of Stamina on or just before the final corner, it may provide some value.

Passive Skills

  • Standard Distance
  • Kyoto Racecourse
  • Right-Handed
  • Spring Runner
  • Sunny Days
  • Firm Conditions

All these passive skills are guaranteed to activate on the racecourse, making them especially potent for the race. Standard Distance and Kyoto Racecourse increase Stamina, while Sunny Days adds to Guts, making them particularly valuable. These skills have minimal cost and provide guaranteed returns, making them the most valuable skills for the Champions Meeting after rare recovery.

Speed

  • In Body and Mind / Homestretch Haste
  • The Duty of Dignity Calls
  • Triumphant Pulse
  • Professor of Curvature
  • Inside Scoop
  • No Stopping Me! / Nimble Navigator (Non Front Runner)
  • Long Corners
  • Long Straightaways
  • Uma Stan
  • Pressure

Aptitude

You can drastically improve your runners’ performance by increasing aptitude for the distance, surface, and running style from “A” to “S” rank.

  • S-rank distance (Long): +5% Speed
  • S-rank surface (Turf): +5% Power
  • S-rank style: +10% Wit

Increasing Long aptitude to S-rank is the most important, followed by getting Turf aptitude to S-rank. S-rank running style is good to have, but it will not affect skill activation at all, thus having minimal impact on performance.

Team Composition

  • 1-2 End Closers
  • 1 Pace Chaser
  • 1 Late Surger / Debuffer

End Closers are the best candidates to win the Gemini Cup, with Narita Taishin having ideal skills, followed by Gold Ship, so make sure you have at least one of them in your team. They avoid most debuffing skills and have access to innate rare Stamina recovery.

The main reason to avoid using Front Runners is because of debuffing builds like Nice Nature affecting them the most with stamina-draining skills like All-Seeing Eyes and Mystifying Murmur.

Pace Chasers have access to multiple rare Stamina recovery skills and can somewhat absorb the damage done by debuffers. There is a high chance that Front Runners will not be fielded by most players, which will make Pace Chasers the pack leaders, giving them a significant boost.

Training one debuffer for the Gemini Cup is ideal, as any damage done to opponents’ Stamina can cause them to run out of energy in the late race, significantly reducing their top speed in the last spurt. Nice Nature is the best candidate for the role, especially if you can reach Potential Level 5 and unlock All-Seeing Eyes.
