Discover what Offbrand is, the innovative content creation company founded by Ludwig Ahgren in September 2022.
In September of 2022, Ludwig announced his new venture, Offbrand, which he co-founded with fellow streamers Atrioc, Stanz, and Nick Allen. The streamer stated that it is going to be a company that they started to help content creators make amazing content. Offbrand hosted several high-production events like Juiced with xQc, Creator Clash, Truly Trivia, and Name Your Price with AustinShow.
Ludwig, along with PirateSoftware, also launched a game production company under the Offbrand banner named Offbrand Games. The idea was to make a game production company to help developers get great video games out to the public. Ahgren chose PirateSoftware for his unmatched expertise in video game development. The company announced Rivals of Aether II as the first game it would publish.
Earlier this year, Ludwig, alongside his Offbrand Games announcement, announced that his company was going to be a worker cooperative and that he sold it for “literally dollars” to the workers. After the massive success of both ventures, the company has announced that it will be shutting down its events branch. However the game development company will be operational, and Ludwig will be hosting events through ‘Mogul Moves.’
Offbrand’s Launch and Success
Since its launch in 2022, Offbrand hosted its first successful event, ‘Juiced,’ with xQc, which was a trivia-based game show that xQc and Ludwig co-hosted. The game show was partnered with Fansly, a creator platform. Big streamers like Myth, Kydae, and Zoil were part of the first episode, and the list for the next episodes was full of streamers as well.
Other events under the Offbrand banner were CDawgVA’s charity auction, PogChamps with chess.com, the World’s Greatest with YouTube Gaming, and Fast 50. The creator company also partnered with the Streamer Awards 2024, hosted by QTCinderella.
The announcement of the company shutting down its event branch was shocking to the creator world. Fans and employees voiced their disappointment on platforms like X and Reddit, with some expressing shock over the decision. During a stream on the same day, Ludwig revealed that the accounts were “cooked,” and his sponsorship money had been used as a float to make the company’s numbers look better. The streamer stated:
“Well, I found out literally, I think, a month or two ago. Maybe two months ago, that my sponsorship money has not been paid out to me in a couple of years. And it was basically being used as a float to make Offbrand’s numbers look better than they were.”
