The God of War franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary in grand fashion. Santa Monica, the studio behind the modern games in the series, has revealed an upcoming free update for God of War Ragnarok to mark this milestone. Dubbed the Dark Odyssey Collection, this update will introduce a ton of new content into the popular game. The following article will help you understand what the developers plan to introduce through the God of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection.
What Is New in the God of War Ragnarok Dar Odyssey Collection?
The free update will introduce a variety of new armor sets for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya. Kratos will also get a new black-and-gold appearance reminiscent of his look in God of War 2. It will also offer new skins for some of the fully upgraded weapons in the game. Here is a list of every new armor and weapon skin that will be available to players.

Dark Odyssey Shield Skins and Rond

You can claim all of these cosmetic items from any of the Lost Items chests within the base game. Apart from this, you can also get your hands on the items in the Valhalla mode of God of War Ragnarok.
When Does the God of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection Update Launch?
In the PlayStation blog that announced this upcoming free update, the developers revealed that the Dark Odyssey Collection will be available on March 20, 2025. Both PS5 and PC players will be able to claim the rewards that the update introduces. However, keep in mind that you can only collect each of the weapon and shield skins once that specific weapon or shield has reached its maximum upgrade level.
Also, as part of the 20th anniversary, Sony will host an art exhibition in Los Angeles, California. The exhibition will showcase a bunch of new artwork inspired by God of War and Kratos. However, the publisher has revealed that it doesn’t plan to make any announcements during this exhibition event.
