Kite is a skilled Hunter and a former student of Ging Freecss. He first appeared in the Chimera Ant Arc in the anime, though manga readers met him much earlier. In Hunter x Hunter, Pitou’s superior abilities immediately overwhelm Kite despite his considerable experience and power, making the battle brutally one-sided. Unknown to the Chimera Ant King and Royal Guards, the Queen had been developing one final offspring after Meruem’s birth. This reborn Kite appears as a young girl with red hair, freckles, and purple eyes, though retaining all memories of their former life. Initially called “Reina” by the loyal Chimera Ant Colt, Kite eventually reasserts their identity. The Hunter Association classifies Kite and Colt as magical beasts to protect them from being hunted in Hunter x Hunter.
In this new form, Kite continues to grow physically at an accelerated rate in Hunter x Hunter. Kite’s final appearances in Hunter x Hunter show them offering redemption to Koala (a former human reborn as an Ant who had killed a young girl in his previous life) and providing closure to Gon. In their last scene in Hunter x Hunter, Kite is seen watching Small-billed Swans with their companions, having seemingly found peace in this new existence.
