When IShowSpeed viewers hear the streamer say “green apples” they know it’s the end of his streams. The streamer uses the code word to signal his cameraperson to end the stream. He initially started using the term in May 2024 after ending his South Korea livestream.

While he usually uses the English phrase, the streamer also uses the phrase in a different language based on the country he is in. The streamer used the Spanish iteration “Manzana Verde” to end his Chile stream in January 2025.

“Chat I love y’all, Chile I love y’all. Manzana Verde, green apples”

Initially, Speed used the word secretly, however the streamer has started to make it more obvious. The streamer has also used different words to end stream like “Planet of the apes” or “dark milk.” Despite the use of different code words, green apples has stuck with the fans. It has become an inside joke amongst the community and has been popularized.

The streamer is often gifted the fruit by the end of the stream. There have also been instances where the fruit was thrown at him, prompting IShowSpeed to end the stream.

When did IShowSpeed first say “Green Apples”?

It is believed that IShowSpeed started using code words to end the streams in 2024. However, the first time Speed specifically used “green apples” was during his nightlife in South Korea stream on May 14, 2024. After this stream, Speed started using the word more often, signaling Slipz, Speed’s cameraman, to end the stream. At the end of the South Korea stream, Speed repeatedly said green apples and the stream ended abruptly.

“Green apples, green apples, green apples”

Notably, Speed only uses the code word when streaming IRL. However, there have been instances of him using the word to end certain collab streams as well. He used green apples to end his marathon stream with popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat.

The streamer also got his girlfriend Vanessa to say the word, ending the stream:
