EVE Online content creator Loru Gaming called out Pirate Software for allegedly disingenuous comments about the EVE community.
Twitch streamer Jason “Thor” Hall, popularly known as Pirate Software, is facing allegations of lying about his EVE Online experience. EVE content creator Loru Gaming made a video talking about how Pirate lied about his experience.
The purpose of the video was to highlight some of the allegedly wrong statements by Pirate Software. Yoru is concerned about Pirate’s Software’s video on EVE Online that was published on September 4, 2024. Loru claims that Pirate’s video which has over 1.3 million views can paint a bad picture about the EVE community and its developers.
Loru’s video claims that Pirate played the game “wrong” and blamed the developers for his experience. After viewing Pirate’s video on stream, Loru said that Pirate took no accountability and acted entitled.
Loru Gaming Explains Pirate Software’s EVE Online Controversy
According to Loru, Pirate Software was known as “Maldavius” in EVE Online and was part of one of the biggest guilds in the game. EVE is an MMORPG set in space where guilds can control territories. Maldavius (Pirate) and his guild members controlled territory that was bugged in-game.
The developers reached out to Maldavius and other guild leaders to resolve the issue and it took them months to fix the problem. Loru acknowledged these bugs and said that it was the developers’ fault. However, he added that most guilds just left the area and resettled elsewhere in the game world. Pirate Software allegedly kept blaming the developers for his poor experience.
After the developers fixed the area, other guilds tried to claim the area and attacked Pirate’s clan. For those unaware, EVE Online has player-versus-player (PvP) elements. Guilds control territory and prevent other guilds from taking control. Pirate’s guild allegedly refused to control the area and blamed the developers for incoming player attacks in-game.
Pirate Is Facing Multiple Controversies Across Different Games
On January 12, 2025, Pirate Software had a fallout with his guild members during a World of Warcraft raid. He allegedly made a mistake and caused two in-game deaths in Hardcore mode. If players die in World of Warcraft’s Hardcore modes, they lose all progress on those characters.
While deaths are normal, Pirate allegedly refused to take accountability. Twitch streamer Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris who runs the guild banned Pirate for making other members uncomfortable.
On January 17, 2025, Kick streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell accused Pirate of cheating in the single-player game Outer Wilds. He said:
“There’s no way that he would be so blatant about it though, right? He is clearly looking at his phone right now. There’s no way he would just go right now and instantly solve it. Like, he would at least fake trying to figure it out for a minute or two, right?”
Pirate denied the allegations and said that he didn’t get external help to beat the game. In the same week, YouTube streamer AlbinoLIVE analyzed Pirate’s Animal Well footage and claimed he was cheating. Albino said:
“Outer Wilds was nearly obvious because he was looking at his phone. It was so obvious that I thought, surely he wouldn’t do that, right? But in this game, it’s clearly obvious because he’s trying to have the world believe that he blindly solves every ending, even the secret developer fourth wall-breaking ending that was solved by the community after like weeks?”
Albino claimed that Pirate found secret endings in Animal Well that took the community weeks to find. He alleged that it should not be possible for a first-time player to find the endings without cheating.
