Summer Game Fest showed off some of the most anticipated upcoming titles of 2025. 1. ILL

Team Clout Inc.’s first-person horror game, ILL, promises to give creeps to even the seasoned veterans of the genre. The developers have also promised atmospheric gameplay events and advanced dismemberment mechanics. The game will also have realistic physics, like knocking the can over, which might alert nearby enemies. While most of the survival games adopt the third-person camera style, it is good to see ILL taking the first-person approach.

2. Stranger Than Heaven

Set in the 20th century, Stranger Than Heaven is the official upcoming title from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Formerly called “Project Century,” the game takes place in 1915 and 1943 Japan, as per the two teaser trailers. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is behind some of the most acclaimed series, such as Yakuza, Like a Dragon, and Virtua Fighter. Expect Stranger Than Heaven to deliver an action-packed, narrative-driven adventure with exceptional combat mechanics to keep you on the edge of your seat.

3. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been one of the most anticipated games ever since its teaser trailer. The gameplay reveal at Summer Game Fest 2025 made gamers more excited for CAPCOM’s upcoming action-adventure title. Way of the Sword is a brand-new entry in the mainline Onimusha series since its sixth installment, Dawn of Dreams, in 2006. The game showcased its unique combat mechanics from the original games as well as a modern rendition of the gameplay system. Way of the Sword is set in feudal Japan during a demonic invasion in Kyoto. You vanquish the demons using the series’ signature Oni Gauntlet.

4. Resident Evil Requiem

CAPCOM ended the Summer Game Fest with a bang with the announcement of the ninth installment in their signature survival horror franchise. Resident Evil Requiem will be launching in February 2026. Director Jun Takeuchi teased the game during other announcements at the event. He also mentioned that apart from the general survival horror aspect of the series, the game will also have cinematic set pieces to enhance the gameplay. Players should expect a goosebumpy experience from the upcoming RE title.

5. Mafia: The Old Country

2K’s latest entry in their Mafia franchise takes you to the origins of organized crime in 1900s Sicily. Mafia: The Old Country tells a story about the underworld and how it came to be. You play as Enzo Favara in a third-person action-adventure world filled with immersive dialogues and a compelling story. The Old Country is the first title in the series to use Unreal Engine 5, which has allowed the developers to tell the story in creative ways.
